Purchased three years ago and use roughly once per month for chest and back. Cuts evenly, and not too close to the skin so there’s never any ingrown hairs. I charge it every third month probably and the battery is fine. The only issue I’ve had with this, was when it first arrived the locking button for the folding mechanism didn’t work, so i had to force it to open up. I just never close it and leave it where I need it to be to reach my back. Kind of inconvenient to not be able to fold it up, but was not worth dealing with the return. I bought this to stop having to buy blades for the BakBlade. The BakBlade worked great, but it caused cuts and just cost too much. This works okay, and all in all, is a reasonable trade off. Pros: rechargeable, no replacement blades, can get to every spot on the back. Cons: doesn't cut all the hair, can't tell if the cutting head is flat on my back (which may be why I miss hair), and the second head just rips hair out of my back (i.e. it hurts like crazy). Even with the cons, though, I'm still gunna use it. ... show more

Used it a handful of times. Did great then wouldn’t shave peach fuzz. For the money, it should’ve performed longer. I’m not a chimpanzee on my back either. When it goes out, it will pull and just not cut even with short easy strokes. EDIT: Boy, did they come through in spades! A small problem with one of the heads…..it was not working and they sent me a brand new unit! Rarely do you get customer service like that anymore. Earned my business for sure. ... show more

Where was this thing about 25 years ago?!?! I received my MANGrooomer Ultimate Pro in 2 days (even in the midst of snow storm) as expected and it was packaged very well. I opened the package and read the instructions from end to end before attempting to use it. They state to let the unit charge for 18 to 24 hours before use so that's what I did. About 18.5 hours later I got comfortable with the way the unit adjusted/operated and started in. Now I should say that I was one of the first of my friends growing up to get body/facial hair. Sadly it doesn't seem to have ever stopped! I'm now 45 and while I haven't ever let my hairy presentation deter me from doing what I wanted (beach, pool, etc.), I've always been very uncomfortable with my appearance. And while my hair wasn't the thick, brillo-pad style I've seen on some unfortunate guys out there, it was more than what I ever wanted on my body. I went the Nair route once and let's just say I only went that way once for a reason!! Nasty stuff!! One of the issues I faced is that there really wasn't a place to "stop shaving" if I had someone shave my back which meant shaving my "front" and arms too. Who wants to bother someone with that all of the time? So I fire up the MANGroomer for its maiden voyage and I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical after seeing some of the negative reviews. I thought for sure I was going to end up one of those guys with the "hair type" that the MANGroomer wouldn't cut through or whatever. The instructions say to make slow passes to prevent pulling the hair out. So I make a couple of slow passes on my upper back/shoulder area and ... holy crap ... the hair's gone! And no pain! No redness! No smell! So I continue...I was able to do my whole back thanks to the way the MANGroomer is designed. Because the human-wool on my back was rather thick, I opted for the trimmer blade versus the close-cut/razor blade. It removed the hair so short you could barely see it. You could feel the stubble if you ran a hand across my back, but really not bad at all. Because there was no good stopping point as I mentioned earlier, I continued to do the rest of my body. One of the other concerns I had was whether or not I'd be able to use this everywhere or if I'd have to buy yet another groomer for the rest of my body. I was able to maneuver the MANGroomer so as to get everything trimmed up - arms, legs, torso, etc. It left a little more on my chest than everywhere else but that hair seems thicker than the rest. It was still very close... I was able to do my entire body without recharging and the motor didn't seem to be slowing down. Still, before I used it again I thought it best to plug it in and charge it up. After charging the unit for 2-3 hours and allowing me and my body to adjust to it's new-found environment, I swapped heads on the MANGroomer and tried out the closer-shaving head on my back. It's a little tougher to use than the trimmer only because of the angle you have to hold the MANGroomer at to get the head to sit flat. But just the same, it worked pretty well. I'll use a regular razor for the areas I can reach and save the MANGroomer for the back areas I can't reach. I cannot tell you how great I feel! This was long overdue. What made me finally decide to go forward with this is a recent vacation where I was the only guy at the pool/beach who wasn't man-scaped. Evidently, gone are the days where guys who shave their bodies are not the norm. I feel so much better about myself and cannot wait until the next vacation or pool party so I can show-off my new self! Another perk, the muscle tone that was lurking beneath the forest of man-fur is now on display for all to see. Good days ahead! ... show more

    • Slow and steady...this tool does it all!

This Ultimate Pro Back Shaver is excellent for shaving everything neck down. I've used other electric clippers, razors, creams etc. but this tool is absolutely easy and pain free to navigate and leaves a very smooth comfortable result "everywhere". Other methods usually leave irritated skin and sometimes burning small minor cuts on the private areas and I was a little nervous this would do the same. But with slow careful attention I was able to complete "the process" in very little time and with very little effort. The new tool was charged and ready within 16 hours. Using the groomer blade I was able to quickly shave my entire back, chest, legs, arms, and private areas. I had always found small stinging cuts under my armpits and private areas before I used this product. When the soap hits those tender spots it really stings for awhile. But with this Mangroomer Ultimate Pro Back Shaver those stings are a thing of the past! I'm very excited to finally find a versatile tool to help my body look younger for me, and my wife. After 43 years together we are still enjoying that soft touch. Now I don't have to have her help me with my back. She can just enjoy the final results ; ) Me too. This tool literally reaches every area and some you wouldn't even think of now. I didn't need to do the fine touches using the foil blade yet. The first pass is so excellent. I will try maintenance with the foil blade and see if things get even easier. We are completely satisfied. Easy to use, understand, manipulate. I also haven't had any need to use the power boost yet. Also, the cut action is very smooth and easy to keep controlled in a small work area. I had been using our closed glass shower with other methods and hair gets everywhere. With this tool I decided to stand in front of our three way mirror and the hair simply fell to the carpet in a very small area, rather than spray out like before in the shower. After I was done it was a much easier clean up with our vacuum. MUCH less time! Actually less than a minute to vac. I had actually planned to purchase another shaver for my private areas when I read some of the reviews that discouraged using this tool for the "entire body" neck down. But I decided to wait and try this tool everywhere and I'm sure glad I did! That alone saved me a good $80. This tool does it all. Just take it slow and steady, like the manual says.
