  • Actually Works!
Size: 3 Piece Set
I’ve never written a review before but after buying 2 backscapes and having both die, I want to praise this awesome tool. This is insanely effective, easy to use, and comes with everything you’ll ever need. I even use it on my legs and chest because of how well it cuts. Super happy and I would recommend it to anyone! ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 3 Piece Set
Purchased three years ago and use roughly once per month for chest and back. Cuts evenly, and not too close to the skin so there’s never any ingrown hairs. I charge it every third month probably and the battery is fine. The only issue I’ve had with this, was when it first arrived the locking button for the folding mechanism didn’t work, so i had to force it to open up. I just never close it and leave it where I need it to be to reach my back. Kind of inconvenient to not be able to fold it up, but was not worth dealing with the return. Works great otherwise. ... show more

  • Works great but coating doesn't last
Size: 3 Piece Set
The shaver works great. I actually love it. The only reason I had to throw it away and purchase a different one, about 3 years after I purchased it, was because the rubber coating of the groomer became very sticky and uncomfortable to handle. This is the only reason why I am changing my 5 starts to 4. ... show more

  • Sasquatch no more!!
Size: 3 Piece Set
Where was this thing about 25 years ago?!?! I received my MANGrooomer Ultimate Pro in 2 days (even in the midst of snow storm) as expected and it was packaged very well. I opened the package and read the instructions from end to end before attempting to use it. They state to let the unit charge for 18 to 24 hours before use so that's what I did. About 18.5 hours later I got comfortable with the way the unit adjusted/operated and started in. Now I should say that I was one of the first of my friends growing up to get body/facial hair. Sadly it doesn't seem to have ever stopped! I'm now 45 and while I haven't ever let my hairy presentation deter me from doing what I wanted (beach, pool, etc.), I've always been very uncomfortable with my appearance. And while my hair wasn't the thick, brillo-pad style I've seen on some unfortunate guys out there, it was more than what I ever wanted on my body. I went the Nair route once and let's just say I only went that way once for a reason!! Nasty stuff!! One of the issues I faced is that there really wasn't a place to "stop shaving" if I had someone shave my back which meant shaving my "front" and arms too. Who wants to bother someone with that all of the time? So I fire up the MANGroomer for its maiden voyage and I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical after seeing some of the negative reviews. I thought for sure I was going to end up one of those guys with the "hair type" that the MANGroomer wouldn't cut through or whatever. The instructions say to make slow passes to prevent pulling the hair out. So I make a couple of slow passes on my upper back/shoulder area and ... holy crap ... the hair's gone! And no pain! No redness! No smell! So I continue...I was able to do my whole back thanks to the way the MANGroomer is designed. Because the human-wool on my back was rather thick, I opted for the trimmer blade versus the close-cut/razor blade. It removed the hair so short you could barely see it. You could feel the stubble if you ran a hand across my back, but really not bad at all. Because there was no good stopping point as I mentioned earlier, I continued to do the rest of my body. One of the other concerns I had was whether or not I'd be able to use this everywhere or if I'd have to buy yet another groomer for the rest of my body. I was able to maneuver the MANGroomer so as to get everything trimmed up - arms, legs, torso, etc. It left a little more on my chest than everywhere else but that hair seems thicker than the rest. It was still very close... I was able to do my entire body without recharging and the motor didn't seem to be slowing down. Still, before I used it again I thought it best to plug it in and charge it up. After charging the unit for 2-3 hours and allowing me and my body to adjust to it's new-found environment, I swapped heads on the MANGroomer and tried out the closer-shaving head on my back. It's a little tougher to use than the trimmer only because of the angle you have to hold the MANGroomer at to get the head to sit flat. But just the same, it worked pretty well. I'll use a regular razor for the areas I can reach and save the MANGroomer for the back areas I can't reach. I cannot tell you how great I feel! This was long overdue. What made me finally decide to go forward with this is a recent vacation where I was the only guy at the pool/beach who wasn't man-scaped. Evidently, gone are the days where guys who shave their bodies are not the norm. I feel so much better about myself and cannot wait until the next vacation or pool party so I can show-off my new self! Another perk, the muscle tone that was lurking beneath the forest of man-fur is now on display for all to see. Good days ahead! ... show more

  • it was like watching a child at Christmas
Size: 3 Piece Set
The media could not be loaded. The husband busted his new MANGROOMER out of the package last night; it was like watching a child at Christmas. He was so excited he stripped down to his skivvies and went to town on the woodlands of his body. We decided to make a demo video on his hairy legs to show off how effective it was. This thing seems to have a bit of a learning curve. For instance, on the "hedge trimmer" attachment (the one without the shaving foil) it seems to work better when you push it in a forward motion. Pulling it back didn't seem to catch as much hair. My husband tried it both with, and against the direction of hair growth and the pushing with the hair direction seemed to work best. The other attachment that has the shaving foil will also take some getting use to. It does get a closer shave but running it over his chest after using the hedge-trimmer didn't seem to make much difference to all the little cactus prickles. Could be because of the direction of growth or numerous other factors but he'll have to mess with this thing some more. As is, this attachment was kind of underwhelming and he had hoped it'd have just done its thing regardless of technique or finesse. Both of these heads have a "shock absorber" but it seems pretty stiff and pointless. If you're pressing hard enough to make this joint flex at all, you're probably going to draw blood from it scratching you. And speaking of drawing blood, this thing is way better than the regular Wahl head-hair trimmer my husband usually uses to manscape with. That thing will bite you if you hold it wrong. My husband ends up looking like he had a naked tussle with a badger after using that thing. The MANGROOMER, however, has a very close spacing between the teeth of both shavers so it's much less likely to make a meal of those flabby fleshy spots. In the video, you can see some redness and scratches but by the time he cleaned up afterward, everything was back to it's usual pasty-white hue. Then there's the handle - it's great in concept but not so much in function. I mean, he can reach all of his back with it which means I don't have to participate in this monthly lawn-care ordeal but it would be better if the extendable handle could detach. That way it could be used for other body parts without having an extra long handle to contend with. Kind of like if you were to tape your toothbrush to the end of a bent shovel handle - you can do it but it's just awkward. Also, the angle of the handle - the thing just doesn't lay out very straight. In the end, my husband found the sweet-spot of going around the side of his body/shoulders other than up and over his shoulders to reach his back (as he did in the video). Maybe this is just due to how his freaky sasquatch hair grows, I dunno. The power button was another design issue he ran into. While shaving other areas, like arms and legs, he'd have to hold up on the body of the shaver rather than use the awkwardly angled handle - this then led to the power button being bumped and the shaver getting turned off repeatedly mid-shave. As for the "power boost" option, it changed the noise but he didn't really see much of a difference. The charging cord is very thin and I feel like if you cram it into the drawer when not in use, its going to get a short in it. And the MANGROOMER doesn't come with a bag or anything to store it, or the extra parts in. Even just a cheap little zippered pouch would be enough. As for the battery, my husband was fairly impressed. He ran that thing until it died, mowing everything from his neck down to his little hairy Hobbit feet. Not sure how long it went for, as there were many pauses during the process where the shaver was turned off, but he was going at it for like an hour and a half. Knowing I'd be doing a thorough review on the MANGROOMER, my husband wanted to put this thing to task so he took it places that even I don't venture near. I'll I can say is that man is hair-free from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the valley, and without blood loss! Overall, it's a decent product - maybe with a subsequent shave the different features and so forth will be more useful but as of right now, it doesn't seem worth the $45 we paid for it. If they changed a few things like making the handle detachable and moving the power button, it'd be more functional and versatile but as is, it's really just a back-hair or hard-to-reach area shaver because it lacks the maneuverability to hit areas like the back of your legs, armpits, and places where a long handle isn't necessary. ... show more
