  • Great Value, Lots of Fun to Play!
Style: Card Game
Total cost of the deck, if you were to put this together yourself, would be in the realm of $75. This is a great option to learn the format & play against other low to moderate-powered decks, but it will need some upgrades to go toe-to-toe with higher powered commanders. But what's not to love about making your opponents fight each other? Great option for an introduction to the commander format, enjoy! ... show more

  • Holds it's own
Style: Card Game
I bought this to have as an extra for when my kids hosts "magic night" at the house. The commander's actually to goad other players makes this a fun deck to play

  • Terrific starter deck
Style: Card Game
Having been away from MtG for several years I wanted to get back into it and bought this deck to relearn with. Right out of the box its pretty decent and held its own the whole night against much more expensive custom decks. With just a little bit of swapping out cards this deck can really shine. Would absolutely recommend this for anyone looking to take up commander, new or returning player. ... show more

  • Excellent value for the price.
Style: Card Game
These decks are meant to be an introduction to the Commander format for new players and they serve their purpose well. With a variety of cards, mostly reprints from various editions of Magic: The Gathering, as well as fun Commanders that help teach the game but are also competitive when upgraded, these decks are a fun buy. But added to that, the combined value of JUST the cards in this deck that are worth over 1 USD is more than twice the cost of the deck! This is true for all of the Starter decks, to a greater or lesser degree. All of them are worth more than you pay for them if you consider the prices of the cards as of the time of this post. And that isn't counting the many cards that aren't worth a dollar but just add to your collection as a new player. I rate this product a great gift for new players, and a good buy for any Magic Commander player who wants a little value for their money and likes the look of the decklists (you can Google for a full list of the cards in each one) ... show more

  • Not that bad, but tricky
Style: Card Game
Just looking at the card list, you'd think this deck poorly designed and weak. But during actual play I found it surprisingly effective. Its basic strategy is to encourage your opponents to attack only each other while you sit alone and build up a strong(ish) board. Then in the late game, when hopefully you're down to just one or two opponents and they'll be weakened, your strong(ish) board can finish them off quick. Unfortunately this strategy is catastrophically useless with 1 opponent. And this deck's strategy is so simple and obvious, no one will fall for it more than once or twice before everyone will decide to just gang up on you early whenever you pull it out. So basically you'll only get to play this deck once or twice before your play group will wise up and neutralize it. On the plus side, the deck is cheap enough to where 1-2 plays, plus the value of the individual cards it has, makes it generally still worth picking up. ... show more

  • Sturdy little deck
Style: Card Game
I've come close to beating veterans with $300+ decks. It's fun and very well balanced. The only drawback is being able to keep track of the buffs that different cards give each other, which this zombie deck is highly built on. Some veterans can keep all the numbers in their heads, but get some counters or dice of different colors because you will have multiple cards buffing each other like a weird WWE zombie tag team. ... show more
