The price, admittedly is high but honestly since you’re getting two toys for this and a magical experience to get the doll, I’m fine with the price. The appearance of the doll and mirror toy is great and the quality is pretty decent. The mirror is sturdy and the doll is well made, my only complaint is the dress and the wand look and feel cheaper than the rest of the doll, but otherwise it’s great. Not to mention the experience was adorable and fun, it’s kind of like build a bear where your kid gets the feeling that they’re “making” the doll by making this little potion. And the surprise at the end that reveals the doll was super fun and memorable. All in all, you get a fun magic eight ball style magic mirror toy, a doll, and a fun little memory! ... show more

Everyone's been so excited for the new size of Magic Mixies Pixie, and she doesn't disappoint. She is amazingly cute, her faceup is lovely and detailed, and I love the extra gloss put on her eyes to really make them shine! The hair is quite nice and soft and (mercifully) devoid of gel, although it does tangle very easily. Mine had a factory error - two hair plugs were added to the inside of one of her antennae holes. The head is really hard (like, REALLY hard) and it took a bit of effort to get it warm enough to be able to get the antennae to stay after cutting the offending plugs out. The gimmick of this doll does still make a potion, but it's tiny. The rest is contained in the box. The mirror walks you through some instructions and you press the diamond to move forward. I found the sensitivity to be good - you don't have to press hard on the diamond to move to the next step. Now, I had not read the parent's packet first, I only went with the colorized kid's guide, so the end surprised me and it was a lot of fun! After, you can still store your doll in the box if you want, and then it doubles as a fortune teller by answering yes/no questions. The extended playability of the case is really a nice touch as one of my complaints about Magic Mixies is that you end up with a lot of packaging you aren't really going to use again. So this is really fun and special. Too bad you can't reload the confetti though! ... show more

I personally don’t care for the mirror but I understand this is for kids not adult collectors. But with that being said for 60$ I feel she should have wrist articulation and an extra outfit or accessories at least. For 60$ I could buy 2-3 monster high dolls or 2 rainbow high dolls they all have decent fashion and all have really good articulation. Not only that but I’d get more dolls for my money, I love magic mixies because of their faces, fantasy style, and cuteness but I just can’t see a lot of people buying this at the price it’s at. I hope if they do something like this again they at least the bare minimum have wrist articulation and better quality material for the dress. I love the brand but come on you guys can do better! The mirror is something that could entertain a child for a while but that definitely depends on their age the mirror is basically a very expensive magic 8 ball. The reason I put so much emphasis on the doll quality is because that’s what will actually be the long term entertainment a child will get from having this toy. Not the mirror but the doll eventually they will get bored of it whether it’s today or in a month the doll will out last the mirror long term. ... show more

I like the idea of the interactivity between the toy and the child to make the doll appear. Basically what occurs is the child has to make a potion at the direction of the magic mirror to “free the doll” from being trapped inside the mirror. The graphics quality is really good! I was impressed at how the show develops. One thing to note is there are quite a few steps so adults should really familiarize themselves with the instructions before handing it over to the kids. Also, I’d make sure you’re with them step by step to make sure things are being done correctly. Once all is said and done you get the doll to appear, you have to really work to free it because it’s held in place by something along the lines of 8-10 pieces of plastic/elastic keeping it from falling out of place during shipping. It sounds easy, but I laughed at how much of a pain it was to free the doll from the packaging because it was harder than freeing it from behind the mirror with all the theatrics LOL. Once the doll is out and the kids are happy, you can reset the mirror and the doll can be freed as often as you like but be aware there is a lever in the back that is STRONG and an adult will need to cock it every time to make the mirror spin around. Be aware of that, your kid will be bugging you continuously to reset it. Also, you get one shot at the fizzing potion to release the crystal which clicks into the top of the mirror to release the doll. That’s probably the most cool part of the experience for the kids but you get to do it one time and it’s done. So each consecutive time the kids play with the mirror it’s really not the same. All this being said, if you buy this toy be sure you are ok with the hefty price tag for what amounts to be a “one time use” freeing the doll as the manufacturer intended. Once that’s done, you’re left with a doll that’s worth a fraction of the price of what you’ve paid. You’re paying for the experience here more than the item itself- keep that in mind. If you’re ok with that, it’s a good buy. If you don’t like the idea it is a one time thing, steer clear. You’ll end up angry when all is said and done thinking to yourself “that was it? $70 for that?” ... show more
