  • Great book with simple language and colorful illustration
My 2.5 year old is obsessed with vehicles of all kinds and loves this book. I would, however, like to point out that I think there is a typo- on one of the pages it says lift that beam and it looks like they are lifting/about to install what is clearly a post. Other than that I love the simplicity of the illustrations and text while also being colorful and interesting. My son loves to read it again and again. ... show more

  • Perfect for toddler boy
Bought as birthday gift for 2 year old great grandson along with a Life is Good tee with heavy equipment on it . Byron Barton never disappoints.

  • ... Early Childhood educator at the university where I work recommended this book for my three-year-old grandson
An Early Childhood educator at the university where I work recommended this book for my three-year-old grandson, and it was a big hit! He loves it! The bright illustrations and the simple phrasing are perfect for his age, and making noises to correspond to the machines is pretty fun too. He also refers to parts of the book and has made the connections between the book and his toys -- recognizing things like bulldozers and trucks and cranes. It has already become one of his favorites, and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Excellent book for introduction to construction topics
With all of the roadwork and building that goes on in so much of our world today, this book is such a nice way to give our children some framework of what is going on with this big machines and tools and resources, and who is behind it all. A favorite of my children

  • Perfect for the Lil' Guys
We borrowed this book from the library for my two year old son and when it was time for it to be returned, he had quite the difficult time parting with it, after reading it every night for three weeks straight. I then decided that this was a book for purchase as opposed to a three week borrow. Great pictures with very simple text. All of the machines are represented and he loved pointing out and naming each one as we read. It is also a good book for extended vocabulary and discussion with a two or three year old when simply looking at the pictures alone. ... show more

  • More work tomorrow....
My husband and I still quote our favorite line in this classic: "more work tomorrow." The illustrations are very appealing to toddler boys, as is the plot, which follows a group of construction workers through various typical activities. Each of our boys loved this as a bedtime book from the age of about 1 to 2 years old. They kept asking us to read it even after a large chunk of it was lost after being left outside in the rain. This is a great gift for new parents of little boys. ... show more

  • Byron didn't fact check
Baby adores this book series. I think it's the nice saturated colors! But the author says "cement" when he means concrete and that's essentially a sin lol

  • Toddler’s new favorite
We got this for my 18 month old for Christmas and he’s asked us to read it so many times, all the readers in the house (parents and older sibling) have it memorized. He has some other Byron Barton books that he’s really liked but this one is the big hit.
