The material seems to be high quality and has not had any wear marks on it so far despite it being walked on frequently. I had been looking for a "red carpet" runner to basically cover a video cable in my home theater room that runs under a coffee table and couch up to a projector. I wanted something that kind of fit the decor, but also a nice visual indicator and trip hazard prevention. There are so many red carpet runners on Amazon, but many are for temporary party decor and made of the cheapest thinnest fabric or paper. This is actually carpet with nice tight sewing along the edges and a rubber material underneath which provides friction on smooth or carpeted surfaces so it holds in place. It's very similar to what you might see used sometimes in a kitchen by the sink, but not as thick as a welcome mat for a exterior door. I haven't spilled anything on it to know about how easy it is to clean or stain resistant, but it's a perfect reddish wine color that matches the curtains in my home theater perfectly. The fibers are tight berber style so vacuuming is super easy to pick up dust or little hairs. My cat sometimes snags his claw on it as he walks over it, but it hasn't lifted any fibers or left any visible snags. Pretty durable so far! ... show more

I own a black runner and the construction of the rug is ok with me, and it fits the space I bought it for like a glove. BUT This product is very NOT MACHINE WASHABLE. Once again, I bought black, so with that comes certain problems as solid black shows stains. I've tried using spray on carpet cleaners and I can always see where the stain was, pretty evidentially too. If you don't care about this product being machine washable, I admit that I would buy it again because overall construction is pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this runner. It lays flat, looks nice, and is of much higher quality than the runners you can pick up at a dollar store. I bought it for an area of the kitchen where my aging German Shepherd with weakening hind legs continually walked. He started slipping badly on the linoleum and needed some traction.
