  • Easy to install
Works just fine, had a little trouble getting pump handle to rotate maybe had a metal spur in a gear? Once I got it to move it pumped just fine, so don’t give up if you have trouble initially rotating the handle.

  • Not for coolant!
Works well for my purposes. I have it installed in an ATF drum. Only complaint is the hose is a bit flimsy..

  • Great fuel pump for the money.
I recently bought a small diesel tractor and wanted to stock up on fuel for the winter. After filling a 50 gallon drum it occurred to me that I was going to need a pump to get the diesel out! I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a pump so I researched them on Amazon. This one had pretty good reviews and was reasonably priced, so I bought it. Okay, I don't really love the outlet tube from the pump, but it does the job adequately. The pump came with several sections of pipe that need to be screwed together to fit the fuel tank. By choosing which pipe sections you use the pump can be configured to fit not only the standard 50 gallon drum but also smaller ones down to 15 gallons. The pump also has a threaded collar that fits on the supply pipe and can be threaded into the opening of your fuel drum. It also has a screw on it so you can tighten the pump supply tube/collar fit. So, I assembled the pump easily and popped it into my diesel drum. Time to see if she pumps! And pump she did! I was impressed by how easily the pump crank turned. You crank it clockwise to fill the tank. My Kioti's 7 gallon diesel tank filled so quickly I was caught off guard and overflowed it a bit. I was pleasantly surprised to find that cranking the pump counter-clockwise drew fuel from out of my too full tank and back into the fuel drum. Bonus! I was under the impression form the reviews that this pump was kind of slow. I guess if you're filling a 30 gallon tank, yes it will take quite a few cranks, but for my 7 gallon tank, it goes very quickly and I couldn't be happier. I've been using this pump for over a year now and through most of two winters and it continues to work fine. I'm real glad I found this great little pump on Amazon. ... show more

  • Not bad for the price.
The pump works great. However it does not fit a 2” bung found on a 55 gallon drum therefore it wobbles while you pump.

  • Weak link dispensing tube
Final tube that goes into vehicle is almost paper thin. The rest of the pump is heavy-duty sterl. WHY?? the plastic tube kinked and became damaged on simply unpacking. Can I trust gasoline to go through safely? Spill prone?

  • Arrived barely working and with a little grease, works like a champ.
Out of the box this thing was tough to get going, and soon it froze, while still unused with any liquid. I took it apart and found two things. 1. It has a simple, sturdy, efficient design. 2. The interior was dry and covered with surface rust. It seemed to me it needed grease. I slathered it with Penn reel grease and it was soon humming like a top. Once placed in a barrel of liquid it pumped like a champ. The price is great too. Everywhere I see similar quality is twice the price. ... show more

  • Works decent for a budget oil pump...
I've only used it to draw about 5 gallons of diesel fuel at present, but it seems to operate just fine. I used a petroleum-safe pipe thread sealant when I assembled it. I believe the pump housing is made of carbon steel with paint on it. Somebody complained about metal flecks or metallic paint chips in their motor oil, but I haven't had that issue so far. I'm using it in a 55 gallon fuel drum and it works far better than the little plastic transfer pump I was previously using. It sure is nice for topping up my compact tractor. NOTE: To all the buyers that have been hating on this pump...it's NOT made of stainless steel and it is NOT for anything water-based. If you are pumping something petroleum-based like diesel fuel, fuel oil, or motor oil then this pump will work. If you do something ignorant like use it for a water-base lawn fertilizer, you will definitely experience the terrible seizing problem that all the other people who didn't read and understand the description are complaining about. It is an oil barrel pump, not a water pump. Use it for the right application and then write your review. 6/30/2018 UPDATE: Still using this pump. I've run about 100 gallons of fuel through it now and it still is working great for filling my Kubota tractor. I definitely do not regret buying it. Also, I have not notice any metal flakes like some other reviewers had mentioned. Seems to be working exactly as designed. ... show more

  • Works awesome; very reliable
I bought this drum pump after having a plastic one. The plastic one deteriorated over time and the plastic hose cracked. In fact, the plastic pump had issues almost from day one, but it was cheap. After dealing with a subpar pump for a couple years, I bit the bullet and splurged on something metal....looking for reliability. I found it! This pump is indestructible and built to last. It turns really easy and pumps really quickly. The plastic hose extension that came with it looks a bit cheap, but I dont even bother using it. You could always stick on a piece of nice Tygon if you needed to. It assembled easily and contrary to other's reviews, mine is tight; NO LEAKS. It works perfectly; is reliable; and robustly built. So, why 'only' 4 stars? It is TOO good. :) The pump is all steel and has to weigh at least 20lbs. So, it's not so easy to transport, etc. But that is a minor gripe. If it was Aluminum, it would get 5 stars from this very satisfied user. Update: 5/20/14:: Pump still working well. It has developed a tendency to leak slightly around the area where the handle assembly meets the pump body. Of course, it shouldn't leak at all (especially since I'm exclusively transferring gasoline) but it is minor for me due to my intermittent use of the pump. If i were using it 24/7, it would be an issue. Contemplated pulling the pump apart to diagnose and repair, but it hasn't bothered me enough.....yet. ... show more
