  • Strong! & Flexible! (huh ???)
Color: Grey
I will attest that this storage closet is strong! Challenging the statement of its high bearing capacity up to 264 lbs, I made modifications to the cubicle layout (thereby making it also flexible in design) in order to better fit my husband’s needs for a permanent closet. He needed to store items on top of the cabinet = the steel pipe frame is very sturdy. And whereas he has more t-shirts than hanging shirts and more jeans than slacks, I moved the shelves from the bottom to the sides. For those few hanging shirts, the depth of the unit as designed is smaller than a standard clothes hanger. I modified the mid-columns into one large open space to allow the shirts/slacks to hang front to back, vs. side-to-side as instructed. I started to question my cannibalization thinking I made the center weaker without the inner poles…but, heck…it’s only his clothes…. 😉. As noted in the picture, it stands straight and solid with 5 guitar cases on top; 3 of which are empty. Yes, the plastic shelves might appear flimsy, but when in place (a bit of a challenge for me) they actually add to the integrity of the structure. And were there enough plastic connectors for my design? Yes, but perhaps used in a different location than the diagram-based manual may have suggested. Also it's key to remember that there is a top and bottom to each connector and to keep them consistent throughout the build. Thank goodness for the included mallet; a good weight and a joy to use (to get one’s frustration out 😉, read on). Once the cover was snugly on with ties at the base to hold it in place and Velcro strips to hold the opening flaps to either side, it looked good . (You’ll note there’s no mention of hubby helping in this effort; he was a ‘non-believer’ in the ability to modify the plan and therefore ‘kindly volunteered’ to leave the room for the sake of marital bliss… better said: the unit can be assembled by one person). The cover is a great add for dust protection and the fringe attractive, although perhaps not very manly. Not that he’s ever going to zip it all closed, but I’m going to sew Velcro strips on the front closure to make it easier and more tempting for hubby to do it. This is a strong, well-manufactured unit, with a flexibility in usage other than clothes, portable (lift it empty or take it apart), and attractive to have anywhere it’s needed. A great find! ... show more

  • Sturdy and fits a lot of clothes
Color: Black
This wardrobe closet turned out better than I thought it would. Its not fancy, but it works well. I have a bedroom with a tiny closet and desperately needed more closet space. This one was modular and rather wide. Since I didn't have quite enough room for the width, I thought I might be able to take off a side section and put another section on top with the rods from the side. It worked! I now have a taller closet with more room to put things on the bottom. I made one section a double decker with a lower rod and a higher rod so I can hang at two levels. I'm surprised at how much hanging room this wardrobe provides. There is actually tons of room. My concern was that each section has its own rod and the connectors take up some of the space, so would that leave enough hanging room. Well, there's still plenty of room and the hangers slide smoothly across the rods. I was also wondering if the shelf floors would be durable enough, knowing they weren't made of wood or metal. They are made out of a very strong plastic that looks like it will last for years, if not decades, as long as it is not cut or punctured or overloaded. They can hold up plenty of weight - enough for sweaters, blankets, shoe boxes, etc., (22 lbs worth each, according to the description). The steel pipes that make up the frame are lightweight but very strong (they must be real steel; magnets stick to it). The plastic connectors are possibly the weak link, but they are reinforced and very strong. It takes a bit of work to put this together, especially to think it through if you make your own configuration, like we did, but its worth it. Its stable and strong and holds a lot. Now that its all assembled, I see I forgot to put the plastic dividers across the top sections. I'll need to do that so I can store things on top of the closet. Fortunately, its not that hard to pull outer sections apart and put in the dividers. I could have used some more connectors but can't find a way to contact the manufacturer. I plan to use the wardrobe cover to keep the dust out. It's amazing to have a functioning closet that fits so much so fast for such a low price. If you need a freestanding closet, I recommend it. ... show more

  • Unexpectedly spacious, and quite sturdy
Color: Grey
It's a lot of parts, and a lot of steps something in the vicinity of 26. Most of these are the same stamps over and over again as you build it from the bottom up. The poles are made of metal, and the connectors are made of plastic. It was a package extremely well, and every inner package of different parts was labeled with a different letter. However it would have been nice if they hadn't used O & Q for part label letters, because they're a little hard to differentiate from a distance in the instructions. Assembly is pretty simple, however the polls can be difficult to insert into the connectors. Per the instructions you're supposed to rotate the pole into the connectors, which does work pretty well but some need some decent force and a good grip. So if you have any elbow or wrist issues you may want to get some help. It'll also build faster if you have a second person. Good news is as you put it together it levels itself out pretty easily and it does come with a hammer to help tap them in the place. Also be sure to double check as your assembling it that you have the correct hole for the connectors on top (inverted one). If you mis-assemble it, especially one of the ones in the middle, it's harder to get apart than it is to put together. And sometimes the connectors can all look the same length, and the longest one always goes on the bottom. I think if you plan it out first you could probably reconfigure it a bit as well. Overall it's sturd, looks pretty good And is a good value. ... show more
