  • It smells utterly awful but it works perfectly.
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I received the one in the photos and not a squeeze bottle. I did leave the peel back insert on it so I could put it back in place after use. I was happy using it having never had experience with the product. They put in good instructions on the product and disposal. I can say, I used about a fourth of the suggestion amount -- seriously just a drop -- but my water was 150 degree and I used tongs. My copper turned solid black in 8 seconds. The second time, I dipped for 2 seconds in and out. It was much more lovely with more tones. The first piece I scrubbed quite a bit with 0000 pads to get the oxidizing off. I braved up on take 3 to do a fully formed piece and was quite happy with that. I plan to use this more but caution you to go outside, in the woods, across the street, and up a mountain. The rotten egg smell is quite strong. I was not prepared. I knew it would be bad... but not THAT bad. Actually, get a mask too. haha. I wore gloves and pulled my hair back. It is PUNGENT but it works. A month later and the piece still has a great patina and I don't notice any fading. ... show more

  • FANTASTIC product- works very fast. Use HOT water.
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This product is simply AMAZING! I use it on both sterling silver and silver plated jewelry pieces- A LOT. It comes out perfect every time. **The key is to use HOT WATER!** This makes the color turn dark very quickly. You only need a small amount for several pieces. I use a plastic spoon to mix about a 1/4 to 1/3 of a teaspoon to a small jar of HOT water (heated on the stove). Stir thoroughly. Quickly drop as many pieces of jewelry (or whatever metal) into the jar so that the water/mixture covers every piece completely. It's fine if the pieces overlap. Seal the jar with lid & gently shake. Do this a few times over a few minutes. The hotter the water is, the faster it darkens. **It oxidizes/ DARKENS QUICKLY** Like less than 2-3 minutes, so watch until desired color is achieved. Then rinse all pieces thoroughly & dry them. Experiment a little. You'll get the hang of it quickly. I like the contrast of the silver looking antiqued, with the brighter silver on the raised surfaces, leaving only the dark oxidized look in the recessed parts, so I do the following: After dried, I use a Dremel (any rotary tool will work) with polishing wheels & either jewelers rouge or any polishing compound for fine metals (Drixel brand is very good but there are many types). Put a very small amount of compound on the polishing wheel- follow simple product instructions. Then gently polish the piece to remove some of the darkness & reveal the silver underneath on the raised parts of piece, while the darkened parts remain in recesses. *Be sure to secure lid on the jar of Liver of Sulfur TIGHT to keep air out & product will last longer. *SMELLS like hard boiled eggs from the sulfur. Use ventilation. ... show more

  • Smelly, but that's normal do not let that deter you
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I bought this product a while back due to the cost, and how much you got. The directions really aren't the best that come on the bottle. This is what I found out while doing research. You are supposed to use water heated up to around 140 degrees Fahrenheit, place it in a glass or plastic container, then add a smallish glob of the solution. Mix it together, once youve oxidized your piece you want to place it into a mix of baking soda water to neutralize the acidity. These are just basics of what I did but user discretion I suppose whatever works best for you. The smell is god awful, but that's to be expected. Be sure to use in a ventilated area as though this is a very obvious piece of advice I still mention DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use this in a non ventilated area. Other than that it worked amazingly and I will be buying more when I can 🥰 ... show more

  • Potent stuff, great value
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
This is the first time I've used Liver of Sulfur, but compared to videos I've seen of people using it this stuff works remarkably well. Using the recommended mix ratio, I was able to almost completely blacken four copper wire-wrapped pendants (about 1-2" in diameter) in less than two minutes, with visible results almost instantaneously. The only thing I would say is that one might consider diluting the mixture a bit--at least until one knows what they're going for. I pulled my copper out after five minutes, despite instructions I'd read elsewhere to keep them in for ten...and even after five minutes, they were shedding bits of black crust and smudge at the touch. While some people might be looking for that level of patina, for me it was too much...and I imagine that a full ten minutes might even compromise the integrity of very fine wire work. Again, I'm not the most seasoned jewelry maker...just an observation. For a pro that knows what they want, I'd think this a great product due to the speed of the reaction. Combined with the value for the price, I'll definitely be buying this product again. ... show more

  • Best Liver of Sulfur I've ever used
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I started with the chunk type of LOS and it went bad quickly. You had to be so careful about light and moisture zapping it. Then I tried liquid - same problems and much more expensive. They both went bad before I had a chance to use up the containers. Then I tried Cool Tools patina gel. That was a distinctly better product but THIS, in my humble opinion, is the best of them all. It seems to last forever, works better and faster than the other types, and is very easy to mix in a solution - even in cool water. Plus you can use it straight from the jar with a brush if you only want to patina part of your piece or you want to touch up something. Some of these attributes were true for the Cool Tools patina gel, too, but this one just seemed to perform better in each area. Yes it looks more expensive than earlier types but it lasts so long (both because it doesn't go bad and because you need so little of it) that it more than makes up for the price difference. But they all still stink! ... show more

  • LOS gel
Size: 4 Ounce (Pack of 1)
reasonable time frame for delivery. BUT the lid was not fully closed and the jar leaked a bit. Thankfully, they had it in a ziplock baggy so it didn't leak all over my other item. It stunk of course when I unpacked it but the gel solution is a GREAT alternative to the rocks that you have to dissolve. This worked quickly and easily to blacken my silver. Would have gotton 5 stars if it didn't leak. ... show more
