  • I don't think the problem is with this product
I couldn't understand why the reviews for this product varied so grately. I decided to give it a try despite the bad reviews and I'm glad I did. I think the problem isn't with this product. I think the problem is with the user's expectations of this product. I'm a woodworker needing to take promo shots of the products I build and sell. I'm NOT a professional photographer. I don't travel around taking shots or setting up on-location shoots. I need to quickly set up my muslin backdrops and lights in a section of my garage, take the shots, tear it down and get back to making saw dust. This stand kit is perfect for my needs and I'm very pleased with it. I have no complaints for the price. Does the cross bar sag? I'm not really sure. It flexes some, but about as much as I'd expect from any aluminum bar of that length and thickness. My backdrop cloth is 6 feet wide thus I only use 3 of the 4 cross bar sections (giving me about a 7 foot bar), so maybe things are bad when the full 10 foot width is used. I buy a lot of equipment for my woodworking shop and know when to buy pro grade, consumer grade or pro-sumer grade gear and what to expect at each level. If you consider yourself a 'pro' and are needing something with pro grade features, it would be unwise of you to buy this kit and unfair of you to then complain about it when it doesn't meet your expectations. This is a consumer grade kit. It's fully functional and nothing is wrong with it. I'm satisfied with it, just don't expect a hard shell carrying case or the ability to hang 15 lbs of fabric on it. I too have one 'unfair' complaint (you see, I'm not immune), there's no place in the carrying bag to store any clamps you may have. I quickly solved this issue by freeing up the center storage pouch which normally holds the 4 cross bar sections. I stored two cross bar sections in the pouches holding each stand. I used the center pouch to store my clamps. As I'm not planning on carrying this kit around much, I'm not too concerned about the bar sections bumping against the stands. ... show more

  • a portable adjustable backdrop kit with small tweaks that are worth the 2-3 extra bucks compared to other similar models.
Summary: This is the 3rd brand/model I get to test, as I use this background for video and photography productions, sometimes as a normal backdrop, and sometimes for Chroma Key / Green Screen purposes. It is quite similar to other models sold by different manufacturers that I reviewed in the past (Fancier Studio TB30, ePhoto H804B - You can check my Amazon profile for those reviews), so I would like to focus in this review on the main differences compared to them so far: - It is a bit more expensive (2-3 dollars more). - It comes inside a paper box (excluding the package by Amazon) (while some other models don't). - It comes with a short but detailed user manual (other models didn't include any documentation) - The carry bad has a logo on it (other models didn't have that). - The telescopic crossbar has different cavities on the sides (bars "A" & "D" are rounded), and the bars are labeled with stickers (and not printed). - The tripod stands have 4 locking knobs (compared to 3 locking knobs in other models), and I find them more solid compared to the other models I tested so far, though they seem to weight the same. The bottom line is you should decide if all those similar/different points mentioned above are worth the extra bucks. I am not sure if everyone will notice those slight differences, but it did have an impact on me, even if it's just a psychological... General Pros/Cons for a background support kit: The pros: - Attractive price (assuming you don’t have to pay shipment expenses…). - Can be adjusted both in height & width. - Light and compact, so it's portable. - Will fit both indoor & outdoor purposes. - Suitable for all sorts of photography & video productions (normal backdrop, Chroma Key / Green Screen, etc.) - Suitable for both beginners and professionals. - Comes with a convenient carry bag. The cons: - You need to setup it properly for it to be stable. - This is made from a light aluminum, so don’t expect here a massive tripod / crossbar. If you will extend it to the max (height and especially width), I am not sure how durable it would be over time, so make sure you use a light backdrop, and if you can use other modifications to support the frame it would be a wise thing to do. - If you plan to use it indoor, I believe you can purchase simple accessories at Wallmart (or any "Do it yourself" stores) to create your own background stand, and by that save some money... **** FAQ : **** If you have any, please do ask and I will do my best to answer them. ... show more

I was a bit concerned after reading reviews about the sturdiness of the top bar, but have been able to hang big 12 yard rolls of heavy Savage Seamless paper without any real sagging. I would definitely buy this backdrop stand again.

  • Good backdrop stand
We used this stand for a party we hosted. We did not have a hard time assembling the stand. We think we got what we paid for. During the second time using it one side kept coming down.

  • Great for the price
It literally took 10 minutes to set up, and would have taken five if I had read the directions. The ONLY THING you need to pay attention to is that the end pieces for the top bar have bigger holes than the middle sections. The bigger holes allow it to fit on the stand. I put it together, but didn't pay attention to the order so I had to disassemble a couple of bars and switch the order. I could see this being a total pain if your pieces were machined poorly and didn't fit together. However, I didn't have that issue, so this was a snap to set up, and it's the ideal quality for vinyl printed backdrops. I only used three of the bars because I didn't need to extend it to 10 feet. If you were trying to hang a photo back drop paper roll, it would probably be too heavy. If you're wanting to use it for higher quality and heavier backdrops, you should probably get a professional stand for $150. ... show more
