Description

Overview The black Sidekick Duo from Light & Motion is a compact, yet powerful LED light compatible with the GoPro that attaches to your existing mounts, letting it accompany your camera no matter where the action takes you -- even underwater, thanks to its factory-sealed design that is waterproof to depths of 197'. The light features switchable/adjustable spot and flood modes that gives you the flexibility to control the amount and type of light to suit your POV footage. It provides a 90° flood and 23° spot beam angles above water, and 60° flood and 12° spot beam angles underwater. To adapt to the situation at hand, the light output is adjustable from high, medium, and low output levels, with a maximum output of 600 lumens in flood mode and 400 lumens in spot mode. A two button system makes it easy to switch between modes. This bundle includes Light and Motion Dive Arm Kit for Sidekick is a locline articulating arm that enables mounting your sidekick light to a compatible GoPro-style three-prong mount. It is approximately 3.5" in length, which provides the clearance you need.

Just returned from a scuba trip and utilized this product. Directions were limited but understandable. Dive arm installation was a bit of a hassle as a bit of force was required to complete attach the arm to the mount on the light, but once attached it functioned well. Had no issues with the light underwater, although the initial charge apparently was not long enough for extended use. Later charges enabled use throughout the entire dives, each lasting about an hour. All settings were used and functioned as expected. I am quite satisfied with this product and believe it is worth the price. Only possible downside it that the dive arm did not seem to be long enough to use with the Flip 5 filter system when in the top horizontal position as the upper lens would be in the way of the light when it was flipped up, not a problem with the light in a vertical position adjusted to the subject ... show more

First, I thought it was useful like Gobe+ but after a few dive, it leaked (Photo) due Spot / Flood Toggle had broken after I dove in the dark deep around 27 meters. I'm not sure when happened, during surface interval or while diving in first or second dive on that day. The button could crash around gear, rock, boat, etc. then pop it out. I should bought warranty but the product is not resistant against crash. Second, the dive arm is not useful and there are instructions for it (I know how to mount). So, the Sidekick would be better without it. Third, GoPro have redesign the mounting buckle, which make the extended thumb useless unless buy a generic mounting buckle. I think it would be better to buy a generic GoPro dive light, that let put under of GoPro and above the mounting buckle. The product is good because have more function but it need to reinforce the design of the button like Gobe+. My product is spoiled because the water entered. ... show more

    • WARNING FOR HERO 8 BLACK SCUBA USERS
I purchased this unit so that my daughter could use with her Hero8 Black in protective housing for her scuba certification. The thumbscrew that comes with this unit is not long enough to screw into the Sidekick light housing nor the dive arm with the HERO 8 protective housing. However the light is bright and very easy to use. I will try and go to the hardware store and try and find a longer machine screw that will fit inside the plastic thumbscrew housing. ... show more

I love this light. I use it for underwater video and photography. I don't need a red lens because the light brings out the color in everything. Super durable and for being small it produces a lot of light. I also use this for my underwater camera setup and also the GoPro. I would recommend to anyone

    • I had one issue with it.....
This Light works great with my GoPro 3+. I had one issue with it where it wouldn't turn on mid-dive at about 70ft, but it eventually came back on after plugging it into the charger for like a second. Will definitely be using this light whenever I am using my GoPro.

The Light & Motion Sidekick Duo light is great, and I highly recommend it! But the dive arm is extremely difficult to use, and I recommend skipping it. Without the dive arm, the light mounts to the side of the Go Pro, and is is easy to use there.

Used it for shooting pictures and videos with a GoPro Hero 4 Black - good results. Recommend buying the defuser as the spot and flood are bright on close ups. Highly recommended to use in addition to a backscatter flip with filters as lumens aren't high enough for bigger images.
