Description

Licorice Pizza is the timeless story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973. "This hypnotically gorgeous, funny, romantic movie freewheels its way around from scene to scene, from character to character, from setpiece to setpiece, with absolute mastery." "Paul Thomas Anderson's most lovable and magical work to date. The breakthrough performances from Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman are so magnetic and natural that they feel like some kind of miracle." "Watching Licorice Pizza is like watching life with all the boring parts cut out and like watching movies with all the phony parts cut out." Featuring performances by Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Tom Waits and Benny Safdie. Bonus Content: Includes Blu-ray, DVD and a digital copy of Licorice Pizza (Digital Copy redemption code subject to expiration. • Ridiculous Value
The packaging they sent me had the BluRay, DVD and Digital Code. The code enabled you to add the film directly to your iTunes library. So in essence it was 3 formats for one price. Wound up watching on Apple TV and added the unused physical copy to my PTA library.

  • Fun movie that accurately depicts the era
Ahh...Growing up in LA in the 70s. Great period piece that's a lot of fun. Stays true to the Era. Fun tale told by someone who lived it. Take it from me, someone who also grew up in the same place at the same time. I realize that many of the antics, characters and attitudes would not fly today. But this isn't about now it's about then and if you can put that aside this film is pure fun and nostalgia. A love song to a (thankfully) bygone era. Glad things have changed but also glad to have been there before they did. Only regret is that they did not show anything about Licorice Pizza the record store. That's OK, the Tail of the Cock scenes (where my step-dad and his pals hung out) made up for it. ... show more

  • Adding another - You need to watch this!
Did not grow up in Southern California but to me that does not hinder anyone from enjoying the movie. Having lived in the '70's or at least having some knowledge of '70's trivia is great but still not essential to enjoy this great film. Sounds funny to say 'down to earth' characters in something like this but the acting is so natural and engaging. Unless you are someone who will not allow yourself to comprehend that views on age differences were in fact not the same as today, to me the age difference is what makes the film unique. Never weird or gross and handled very tastefully (in my opinion). The movie is about the adventure and in both of their lives overcoming life's obstacles. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Not PT's best, but still really great!
I love PT Anderson's movies! This isn't his greatest, but it's still really good. Definitely better than "Incoherent Vice", by far his worst movie in my opinion. This has some typical PT tropes; the valley, the 70's, good music, stories based on real people, etc. It features Phillip Seymour Hoffman's son. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was in several of PT Anderson's films and was always great. His son seems to have a bright career ahead of him too. If you like PT's work this is a must see, and if not still an enjoyable film. It's nice to see that there are still a few people making original films in an age of plastic bubble gum comic book crap! ... show more

  • Way to go Alana
Though I enjoyed the entire movie I was particularly impressed by Alana Haim.Sean Penn was also a stand out. The movie does bog down a tad with the involvement In the political campaign. However that's the way life is.Not all the adventures are exciting.

  • Bueno
