  • 2020 Model - Fast, Light, Great Battery Life
Capacity: 16GB | 1TB SSD
I insist upon 17" laptops because I'm not using a separate monitor, and I need that big a screen to be able to read it. I'm not one to plunk down a lot of money on a laptop, nor to buy the newest or buy them very often. My old laptop is still working, but is at least eight years old, so I knew it was on borrowed time. That old laptop weighed over six pounds, which isn't even the heaviest of laptops, but my husband and I were both getting tired of picking it up, so when I started my search, I was looking for something less heavy, never dreaming I'd find something that weighs about as much as a dinner plate. But once I came across this, I had to prove myself wrong in buying it. It costs more than I wanted to spend. On the other hand, less than three pounds just wouldn't get out of my head. I have a neighbor who initially advised against this. He dabbles in a lot of electronics: laptops, monitors, servers, games, and he said no way. Too expensive and too lightweight to believe. Then he looked at the specs. He was impressed with the SSID and said if I bought a laptop with SSID I'd be pleased with how fast it booted. He even looked for 17" laptops that weighed less than six pounds, had SSID, and cost less than this. I did consider his suggestions, but I couldn't get "less than three pounds" out of my head. Besides, some of his suggestions sold out. I finally bought this in July 2020. And I've been gobsmacked. The touchpad is remarkably responsive. I had my files downloaded from the cloud in less than an hour, and I had almost 5 gig of files. I never even bothered changing the factory-set colors. I appreciate the number pad. It's still a twee skinny, but the keyboard is loaded with function keys, and it's remarkable how wonderfully it works. Graphics look great and the stereo sounds very good, despite the speakers being on the underside of the laptop, at the outside edges. I use the battery-saving settings, and it's never dropped to 20% yet on any given day. I'll use it off and on all day, unplugged, then plug it in and let it charge while I'm watching youtube videos in the evening. There is no optical drive, so I picked one up to load software I have on disks. I'm hanging onto that Office 2016 as long as possible! Before I bought, I looked this item up on youtube and watched some reviews. Some of the reviewers got PR laptops. I gave those a listen, but they had little criticism. I did manage to find some reviews by people who know their stuff and paid their own dime to buy this laptop. Even they were mightily impressed, except for two factors. One was that a 17" laptop can be a little awkward to carry in, say a backpack or tote bag. The other was that if you want to do any serious gaming, you need to buy a separate GPU. I'm not a gamer, but I know gaming uses a lot of processor as well as graphics simultaneously, and at this weight, it's not all there. They did say this laptop is suitable for "light gaming," whatever that is. Remember my neighbor? When I got this, I invited him over to check it out. He was really impressed! I'd say his next laptop might be this one, but it won't, because he doesn't need the big screen. He has multiple separate monitors. But he said he'd definitely consider an LG laptop. I've never been so pleased with a laptop, and I give this the rare and coveted HB two wings up for one of the best buys I've made on Amazon. For me, there is absolutely nothing not to love about it, and gamers excepted, I recommend it to everyone. ... show more

  • Best laptop I ever had
Capacity: 16GB | 1TB SSD
Bought this one two years ago. By far the best laptop I ever had. Due to my job I use them a lot, and I had several over the years. Because of that I tend to buy very premium laptops. But, when I bought this one, I was looking for something cheaper with a good battery life. So, I bought it with low expectations, lucky me, I chose this one. It is extremelly light, the battery life is very good. It is fast. The only issue I ever had was due to a windows update. I am a code developer, so I use Visual Studio, visual studio code, and several other tools. I also used graphic design software at some point (adobe xd). The keyboard keys are well spaced so it is comfortable to use. My other computer, a desktop, has a logitech keyboard, and the keys have weared off after about 2 years (I type a lot), but the keys on this laptop, which I use as much, are perfect, like new. I have windows 10 pro in this laptop (originally it had windows 10 home but I upgraded it), it runs very nice. Because I used both windows 10 and windows 11 in my other computer I can say that windows 11 is faster than windows 10, so, this one will run better once I upgrade. This laptop is amazing. ... show more

  • Exactly as advertised, arrived timely
Capacity: 16GB | 1TB SSD
Great laptop, so incredibly light I understand why some may review it as feeling flimsy. It does make a light crackling noise along the right side case as you lift it but other than that seems solidly built. The battery was completely discharged upon arrival and it did take a long time to charge, as others have mentioned. It also got quite warm. I don't think it will ever last as long as advertised, I expect 8 hours tops. But I had read a ton of industry reviews before purchasing so had no unreal expectation about the battery life and the manufacturer's claims. Nice keyboard action for me, and being able to adjust back-light is nice, too. Another nice feature is getting a 17" display, very vibrant, in a 15" case. ... show more
