  • A software developer's dream!
Size: 27 inch Style: UHD Ergo Stand
When I first saw this monitor I thought "how stupid is that thing" then I saw someone post their workspace on Reddit with it and I became intrigued when I saw how much value it brought to their IDE/editor experience. I decided to get it because the other option was a vertical monitor for not much less. The desk mount it comes with is amazing. It's a very nice ergo mount that clamps onto your desk and it's VERY EASY to adjust. I have my monitors connected to both my gaming PC and my work laptop which is docked. It's amazing being able to split this screen into two separate screens using the PBP feature (picture by picture) where it will take the input from one computer and display it on the top or bottom half and input from another to place it in the other half. This allows me to listen/watch music/videos/streams etc while I work from home all day without changing inputs. Depending on my day it's full screen or split screen and having the option is amazing. I would not recommend this for gaming because of the low refresh rate but for videos/code/productivity tools etc it's amazing. I saw other comments mention issues with macOS scaling and all that but I have had no issues with this. I think it works wonderfully with both my gaming PC and my work Macbook Pro. It's really a great display for a variety of things. I have to imagine this aspect ratio/design will become very popular over time for Twitch streamers and the like because it will essentially allow them to multitask much easier without having 3+ monitors. It's a multitasker's dream. No regrets, no real gripes. My one and only true issue is that while you can control the tension of the up/down motion of the stand you cannot control the tension of the swing left/right motion. So if your desk has any kind of wobble and you play a game that causes you to give your desk a bit of a shake like an FPS with fast mouse movements etc then the monitor might start slowly swinging left or right. I ultimately used hot glue and a small piece of plastic to keep the two monitors held together to prevent the movement but I wish LG would just add the ability to control the tension of the swinging motion (maybe it's there and I'm oblivious but I didn't see it in the manual or on the stand). Even so, it's a very small issue that most people probably won't notice. I love this monitor and I am seriously considering a second one so I can have one dedicated to my work laptop and one dedicated to my personal PC. If you're a developer or someone who multitasks a lot - get this monitor! Please don't judge my cable management in my pic. When I took the pic my new workspace was still a work in progress. ... show more

  • OUTSTANDING!!!
Size: 27 inch Style: UHD Tilt
U need to make sure to put the picture mode on HDR effect, it’s outstanding! The pictures say it all. The need for speed photo is 100% true to the image, I will say the Hitman one did brighten the blacks, they’re darker IRL, but man those colors POP. I can’t recommend this monitor enough if u don’t have 2 grand to drop on a 4k oled. Or if u wanted higher fps, but at 4k it’s hard even hitting 120 on a 4080. I cannot recommend this monitor more!!! ... show more

  • Very good image for the price. No picture, gaming or video issues seen since setting up 5 days ago.
Size: 27 inch Style: UHD Tilt
(Updated) For many years, I used a mismatched dual monitor set up that consisted of a 21” Acer and 22” Samsung models from around 2015. Even though this was adequate for a lot of basic things, it always drove me a little nuts they were of different sizes. Also the color calibrating on both models was a pain that never quite worked and the same videos/images were noticeably different hues depending on which monitor they were displayed on. Basically, it was time to get a dual monitor replacement set of the same brand and model. I also wanted something that was 4k capable, in the 25" to 29" size range, and of course something that would not break my budget. After spending a few months reading reviews of various models, I found that the LG 27UL500-W 27-Inch best matched my wants and needs. On Prime Day, Amazon discounted the price further, so I placed an order for a set ($279 ea). Setup: Very easy. To conserve desk space, I purchased a WALI Dual LCD Monitor Fully Adjustable Desk Mount Stand that had two arms. I had no issues attaching the monitors to the desk mount and running cables from the monitor to PC/outlets. Fit and Finish: I have not seen any bezel issues where they were pealing apart. They are not the thinnest and are about .25” around the top/sides. The bottom is wider. Since I use a desk mount stand, I have no comment about the stands that came with the monitors (they are still bagged). I like that LG put a toggle for the screen controls instead of a row of buttons. Picture: The picture quality so far is very good. I have not seen the light bleed a lot of commentators have noted. Ports: The LG 27UL500-W 27-inch has 1 display port (v1.2) and 2 HDMI ports (v2.0). No DVI or RGB15 ports. I assumed I that I could use DVI  HDMI/DP or RGB  HDMI/DP adapters. Neither RGB (which I expected) nor DVI adapters (which I did NOT expect) work with these monitors. So those that have older PCs/Laptops/KVM switches may be out of luck if the equipment does not support a DisplayPort or HDMI video connector (on my initial review, I deducted a star for this). So, my 4-port RGB KVM switch will not work (this was expected, and I am had my eye on a replacement 4-port HDMI KVM switch that supports dual monitor). For the PCs, it’s a matter of finding cheap replacement video cards that are PCIe x16 with 2x DisplayPort or 2x HDMI ports (but cheap ones do not seem common) and enough VRAM to drive this monitor (from what I read 1 GB should be more than adequate for 1080p since I do not plan to use these PCs for high end gaming). I did find that a passive HDMI to DisplayPort works so integrating a new HDMI KVM switch should not be an issue. Overall, I have been pleased with my LG 27UL500-W 27-Inch purchases. I also have a plan to work out my KVM/Cable/Monitors. If all goes well, I will likely raise my rating from 4 to 5 stars. Update 05/05/2020: I am raising my rating by a star - No image, video or audio channel issues have occurred with either monitor since I purchased them July 2019. These monitors are in near daily use, are powered on/off often and subject to resolution changes a few times a month. The audio channel is constantly used through one of the monitors for steaming video from a ROKU that is connected to one of the monitors. I fully integrated these two monitors to use with a 4 dual port HDMI KVM switch. My only disappointment was that an old ROKU SE did not work with the monitors via the HDMI port. This was most likely due to the ROKU SE inability to support 4K. Using a ChromeCast and a ROKU streaming stick had no issues with either LG monitors). ... show more

  • Well worth it for photo editing. Not good for gaming.
Size: 27 inch Style: UHD Tile/Height/Pivot
I bought this after reading a stellar review from a photographer, and it does not disappoint. The clarity and accuracy of the colors is absolutely amazing. Granted I'm only starting out and have not used many different monitors specifically for photo editing and design work, but for me it more than fits the bill. The design is nice, though the curved base of the stand is a little awkward, but still sturdy. Love that its adjustable. The only downside is that it only runs in 30hz or 60hz and I'm having issues with gaming on it. I didn't buy it for that, so it's not a huge deal as I run dual monitors and the other monitor *is* for gaming, but just thought i'd mention it in case anyone was thinking of using it for gaming. (It also may just be an issue of getting the settings adjusted better) ... show more
