There aren't many artwork LEGO sets. If you're trying to decide between Starry Night and the Great Wave sets (the two big, currents ones), they each have their strengths, but Starry Night has the more 3D feel to it that makes it a great display set (and a fun build). That LEGO added in the Van Gogh minifig with a paint brush as if he were painting the starry night as it was makes it even more endearing and a great take on the original artwork itself; it's bringing Starry Night into the world of LEGO much like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies are a great take on JRR Tolkien's original books. The movies could never replace the books, but they are fun foray into the world of Tolkien, and this LEGO set is much the same with Starry Night. Definitely recommend. ... show more

This is by far the biggest lego set I have put together. I worked on it over the course of several days and I am very happy with how it looks. The directions are easy to follow and the only issue I had was with the background. Since it is multiple shades of blue you have to be careful and make sure you are using the correct shades on each line. Unfortunately the colors in the directions looks extremely similar. This one was a little complicated to put together due to all the similar colors, but that just added to the fun challenge it was in building it. Due to the abstract nature of this Lego I found nearly the entire build to be exciting, with the black frame assembly being the only repetitive part. The finished product looks beautiful and the 3D aspect of it really brings it to life. You can hang this on the wall as you do build a mounting point on the back of it, but I would use a sturdy anchor as it is on the heavy side. ... show more

There is nothing to dislike about this set. I was hesitant because it was pricey, but the work and design that has gone into this set is incredible. I am in my late 80's and found this to be extremely delightful to build and enjoy the beauty of the design. With over 2300 pieces, I was missing one piece at the end of the build, but was able to create it with the extra pieces that accumulated. I highly recommend this set for anyone who would like to relax and build a work of art. So happy Lego is being made for adults. I know there are less expensive sets available by other manufacturers of this build, but I highly recommend the original Lego, it is sturdy and beautiful. I purchased this Van Gogh set for my husbands birthday gift because that’s his favorite artist. It is pricey and a bit smaller than I expected. The quality is great and sturdy. I do think it’s worth the price if you’re a VG lover. I think it’s such a unique gift idea and piece to have. We put it together and enjoyed some wine, it was a lot of fun! This is great for a little at home date night/quality time. The piece is beautiful, gorgeous colors just as you’d expect. My favorite thing is that you can actually hang it on the wall once it’s completed, which I had no idea when I first bought it! I highly recommend for all the VG fans out there. ... show more
