The passenger carriage comprises 3 compartments, each depicting one of the scenes: when Harry, Ron and Hermione meet in the series’ first film; when Professor Lupin saves Harry from the Dementor in the third film; and when Luna saves Harry from Draco's spell in the sixth film. The model also depicts Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station, where the adult Harry and Ginny wait with their children, Lily, James and Albus, ready for Albus’s first trip aboard the amazing Hogwarts Express. Let me first start by saying that I got this set on sale at $350. AT THAT PRICE POINT, ITS A WONDERFUL SET, I would not buy it at the full price of $500. This is mainly due to the fact that the tracks are not compatible with existing or future lego train sets, they are too wide and there is no way to modify the train to fit on a standard track size. I got this as a gift for Christmas, and the person doesn't play with lego, and was more interested in having it as a display piece. "People are mad that they couldn't get the big one" sums it up. This is an awesome build, with some cool techniques that makes for a great display set. It's definitely aimed for Adult fans of Lego, and Harry Potter. For little kids, get the smaller one and some more tracks to play with, again this isn't a set to be actively played with. For $350, it's a good value, and its a huge set. For anything more, I'd wait until it goes on sale again (it will, it doesn't sell all that well). ... show more

The set came with all pieces & looks to be new/unopened. Legit Lego not some off brand. It was fun to put together like most Lego experiences (for anyone interested in this stuff). No big issues or complaints.

We purchase this for my son for his 15th birthday. We bought it half price on Black Friday. It took 3 of us about 10 hours to assemble, which meant we were done at about 3 AM. It was a lot of fun and built some fun camaraderie between me and my 2 sons. My son later had the joy of modifying the train by putting a moter in it to make it move in it's fixed position. The only negative part of the train was that it doesn't fit on normal lego track. It would have been cool to have it work on a normal lego track. ... show more

This was a great addition to my collection, it is Dean on the pricier side, however worth it if you have the patience for building. It looks amazing, runs on the track smoothly! The small details make it that much better! You will need a pretty long table to fit it somewhere though
