  • Massive disappointment.
This is a really disappointing product. We were deciding between the WII and this product for my son to play active games. We bought this because it was less expensive and had a lot of apps and games with familiar faces from the Nick Jr. shows my son loves. The software has always been slow and buggy. The game segments do not last long, so don't even think of washing the dishes while your child plays, as you will need to be constantly present to help young children navigate the menus every 2-3 minutes. We have yet to find a game that involves a significant amount of movement (We purchased the Jake and the Neverland Pirates cartridge, the Bubble Guppies cartridge, and the Team Umizoomi downloadable app in addition to the Pet Play World app and the Roly Poly World app that was included). When we initially bought the system in March 2015, my son was a little too young for it and showed little interest. We put it away until July 2015. The "firmware" updated automatically, and now all games cause the system to crash. According to LeapFrog.com, there is no warranty for software/firmware, and only 3-month limited warranty for manufacturing defects of the hardware. They clearly recognize that their product is nothing to stand behind. I wasted my money on this system, and will most likely get him a WII when he's a little older if we can afford to. Pros: Lots of software options with familiar faces Children can watch themselves play on the screen Cons: Camera is not very good. You practically need to have a floodlight trained on your kid Software quality is lacking: games are laggy and buggy Software is disappointing/not very engaging Warranty is practically non-existent Hardware is slow Controllers can be difficult to aim and are sometimes unresponsive "Firmware" updates may ruin your unit, and you will have no legal recourse because they lack the confidence in their products to offer any kind of warranty on the software. ... show more

  • Kids like it so far, and the configurable controllers allow better options for little ones
Good so far. Bought here but it does say Walmart exclusive on the box. Comes with two controllers and a game. Updating this as we have played with it a bit. You can connect it to WiFi to download content or use cartridges. The controllers are nice for youngsters. They have the ability to switch from a V shape to extended like a straight line. For using the controllers, you point the controller fully extended but you can also find it to the V shape and then use a thumb pad. It seems like this might be better for younger kids and I do think even the generally light weight of the controller could be tiring on little kids if they're trying to use the device pointing at the screen. It seems like at first, there's a tendency to over extend the shoulder to get the 'cursor' to move. I'm thinking they must figure it out over time and it becomes a more natural movement perhaps. ... show more

  • Worst console I ever had owned
I tried thousands of time to even turn on the system before this thing goes straight to error to connect a controller. Many other times it makes me angry and disappointed I can't believe I used to play it and enjoy it good thing mom got me a ps5.

  • I purchased this and love it!!!
I purchased this console for my youngest son's 4th birthday and him and his 6 year old big brother both play this together. I love how the games played give questions that are school level specific according to which profile the child is playing under. This is a very intelligent gaming system that is a great alternative to the wide array of uneducated gaming consoles available to our youth today. I'm the parent that never wanted to introduce my children to gaming due to the strong influence they have over kids minds but this is definitely an inexpensive alternative to the other systems out there. The setup was rather easy and there are a wide variety of games to go with the system and I can't wait to try them all!! I purchased this system on my own and wanted to write an accurate review because I was mislead for so long by reading so many bad reviews of this system. Purchase this for your young children, you can't go wrong! ... show more

  • I love this game system
My boyfriend purchased this for my son for Christmas so he did not open it yet . However, he had played this game multiple times at my mother's house . I love this game system. It us very educational and teaches alot . If you want to get your kids to have fun while playing a game system this is diff the way to go. I am big on education so nothing like a great educational game to get your little ones going . You do have to make sure the room is dark enough for the camara to see you. Besides that that product is an amazing investment ... show more

  • Like, not love...
I really wanted to like this, and it's not too bad... but it was a pain, at least for me, to set up. And the camera that comes with it for the interactive games is terrible... you need a loooot of light for it to not look dark and register your child's movements correctly. My daughter loves this however, it's nice to have a game system dedicated for her and controls that she can hold comfortably. Her friends and cousins enjoy playing it with her as well. ... show more

  • Yes for a reluctant learner
I bought this for my son's fifth birthday. He loves playing it, but after about 45 minutes he is ready to do something else, which is perfect if you ask me! He has learned his numbers in under a month and is going all the way up to 20 now, and recognizing them. I also like that the games are cartridges because it allows him independence while he is playing to change his games. The games are the right amount of challenging and fun for a reluctant learner like mine. I definitely reccomend this to anybody that has tried and cant seem to get their kid interested in not just learning but actually retaining the information. ... show more
