Out of the box, the laser matches any hand-held level I own. I've been running this one for at least 8 hours in the first set of batteries without any issues. Indoors, with sunlight shining in the window and interior lights on, the laser is clearly visible. The laser has a "lock" switch that's supposed to make it hold position, but it's impossible to manipulate the switch without jostling the laser. The laser itself is OK, it does the job. It is slightly offset when on manual mode, but I guess it's fine cause if you want it level you can put it on auto level mode. Definitely worth the money, works great indoors, could be a little bit weak outdoors. This is super wobbly. It doesn't have much of a threshold for any type of bounce or movement, which isn't great in a 120 year old house. Nothing is level or square, including floors, so setting it up is tricky and you have to be very still to get your line. The is an awesome tool and has good value. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating was because it was extremely sensitive to movement. I set a tripod up with the level attached about 20 feet from the wall. If anyone in the house was walking, the lines were shaking, up to 1 inch from left or right, and up or down. I had to tell everyone to freeze, wait for the lines to stop moving, then draw on the wall where the lines were.
