The product is as advertised. I was able to backup files and folders from my computer very easily. It seemed to download quickly. I have had another LaCie external hard drive for several years now that I have been very happy with, and that is why I bought this one for my husband. One thing to be aware of: The wire to connect the device to the computer was not included. You need to provide a USB-C to USB-standard cable. Yes, I do use iCloud for much of my stuff, but this is great! Good value for lots of space. I’ve had it less than a day, but it was accompanied by clear software and the installation downloaded quickly. The Marketing offers were easy to avoid. After a few minutes of set up, it was backing up my MackBook hard drive with a clear on-screen window displaying progress migrated, remaining capacity, and updating remaining time. Much better than the 4 GDrives I’ve gone through, none of which lasted more than five years. And, the LaCie hard, dense case looks very sturdy. The cord also gives a good transfer speed. And it also fits the Amazon Basics zipper storage case used for the GDives as well. In short, the LaCie exceeded any expectations. ... show more

I bought this for back-ups for may MacBook Pro. My 1 TB Lacie would did not have enough memory to support back-ups. I chose to buy from Amazon vs. Apple because the Amazon version was cheaper. I believe it was not the latest version but it was sufficient My only negative is that is not quite plug and play. Some set-up was needed. The instructions were not clear.
