  • Huge, pretty sturdy, but heavy
Color: Black
I got this 1) as a larger backpack that could fit my 17" laptop, and 2) as a bug-out bag for disaster preparedness or when I'm on-call for work. It is huge and easily fits my 17" laptop. I've failed at keeping it prepped as a bug-out bag, but given it's size I think it could easily serve this function. I love all the pockets! They are great for keeping small things organized and easily accessible; the only problem is remembering what you put where. I really like that the main compartment zips all the way open; this makes packing it and accessing everything very easy. I also like that the MOLLE system will allow you to expand it's carrying capacity in whichever way works best for you. I was initially on the fence but decided I do like the low-profile look of the laser-cut version over the classic design. The only negatives I have are that it is extremely heavy (for a backpack), even when empty, and one of the zipper pulls broke within the first week. I like that the weight makes it feel sturdy, but if I had to carry it for long periods I imagine I would like the weight less. Even minimally loaded I use the waist strap pretty much every time I use it. The waist strap is very effective at taking the load off your shoulders, but when you aren't using it, it either digs into your back or flops uselessly at your sides. It also had one of the zipper pulls break within the first week. I was able to tie it back on and still use the zipper, but it was a bit disappointing. Overall, I think this is a great backpack for intensive applications (e.g., law enforcement, disaster relief, etc.), especially if you can carry it in a vehicle a lot of the time. I'd say it's not particularly well-suited for lighter, daily use (e.g., school, etc.), but then again it's advertised as police gear, not a school backpack, so go figure. :) ... show more

  • Quality 72 hour/3-day pack.
Color: Black
I purchased this LAPG Atlas 72 Hour pack to replace a 5.11 72 Rush pack I purchased in 2008 for an Iraq deployment. Although the 5.11 pack is still is great condition, I needed something similar to it for work purposes. After a few days of research I decided on the LAPG Atlas 72 Hour pack. The first things that caught my eye were that is was an LAPG brand product and the price. When the LAPG Atlas 72 arrived, it was almost identical to my 5.11 72 Rush, but the LAPG Atlas 72 is bigger and will hold a lot more of my workgear but has the ability to be compressed into a smaller configuration. The LAPG Atlas as a couple additional compartments and the molle system are very sturdy! It does come with velcro to attach your patches with the hook part. I definitely recommend it over the over priced 5.11 72 Rush pack. ... show more

  • Good, not great.
Color: Ranger Green
This is a good bag. Everything seems well put together and it holds plenty. I’m not sure of how long it will last. I loaded it to weighing 40 pounds and after walking a mile, the straps started digging into my shoulders.

  • The OCD student's dream bag!
Color: Grey
The OCD student's dream bag! Pockets for ultimate organization, molle for customization, and designed for easy access to all your stuff. I use a 5.11 all hazards nitro 12hr bag that have for ambulance shifts. It is compact and fits just what I need for my shift. However, as nursing school approaches, I need a bag that can hold textbooks, chromebook, gym stuff, lunch, etc... The atlas 72 is HUGE. So big in fact, that I had my doubts and ordered the atlas 24 for a side by side comparison. The 72 had a couple extra features that led to my final decision in keeping it. The atlas 72 has two huge, double zippered pockets-- one on each side of the bag. Every day I carry two 40oz thermoflasks. One for a protein shake and the other for water. The side pockets easily fit my 40oz thermoflasks and will zip shut easily. Amazing. The atlas 24 lacks this feature. Molle water bottle attachments would have needed to be added. The 24 also lacks a dump pouch which comes in handy once in a while for random things. The atlas 72 has well padded and comfortable hip straps that can be tucked away when not in use. The hip straps also have molle webbing should you ever need it. The atlas 24 hip straps are not padded, understandably so since it is a smaller pack. The atlas 72 has way more space than I might need on a daily basis, but all the internal pockets allow me to catagorize/organize my supplies and see them easily without blindly pawing through deep pockets. Absolutely love all the thoughtful features this bag has. It will also make an excellent travel bag and you will have plenty of room for anything you wish to bring. Major plus..it comes in grey. I didn't want something that screams "military" since that belongs to those who have earned that honor. The 72 has a lined pouch for your sunglasses but it is not hard-shelled/crush resistant. I remedied this by adding a sunglasses pouch, folding the lid back so that it sits open within the pocket. Basically creating a protective shell that you can easily toss your glasses into. I read many reviews and watched YouTube review videos and did have a hard time trying to tell the true size of this bag since the reviewers were male and I couldn't gauge how big this bag would be for myself. In case it helps out other ladies who are looking at the atlas 72, I included a picture of me wearing it. I am 5'6" for reference. This bag is heavy but even fully loaded without using the hip straps it was very comfortable. Going from the size of a 12hr bag to the 72 will take some getting used to, but with all the fantastic features...I would definitely miss this bag if I returned it. ... show more

  • Super sized
Color: Coyote
This bag is set up for a get home bag in the event needed. It holds actually too much stuff. Temps one to overpack. The bag itself is built to what I would compare as a 511 Tach Bag, but slightly larger. Zippers seem really good and tight, bag material seems like it would last a life time. More internal pockets then you can use. Might actually consider getting the next size down. I do think they did a good job of producing this bag at half the price of other brands making the higher quality bags. ... show more
