I've now tried four brands of barricadess like these, and these are the best. I use barricades like these to block gaps around plastic "net" fences that I encircle young trees with, to keep deer and rabbits from damaging the trees until the trees are big enough to fend for themselves. The four brands I've tried come in different heights (12, 15, and 17 inches) and have prongs spaced at different intervals. These barricades are 17 inches tall and have the narrowest spacing between prongs of all the barricades I've tried. The combination of height and close-spaced prongs is a great combination. The 17-inch height is practical because gaps between the plastic fencing and the ground vary where the ground is uneven. The close intervals on the prongs are more likely to keep small critters from getting access to the trees. These barricades also have another feature I like: Each barricade has a "hook" on one side and a circle on the other side. You can link barricades together by inserting the hook on one barricade into the circle on the barricade next to it. This enhances the stability of the barricades as a whole. The ends of the prongs are pointed, which makes them easier to push into the ground. I set up these barricades a couple of days after rain had fallen. They were fairly easy to insert into the ground, although sometimes I had to lean on them to get the prongs inserted far enough. They seem fairly sturdy. I'm very impressed with the thought that went into the design of these barricades, and I'm confident that they'll do a good job helping to protect my young trees. ... show more

I bought these to span a 125'+ aluminum fence boundary between the 4 garden home community neighbors and my property so as to help block the leaves the grounds ppl blow back into my yard. They were easy to install and pretty darn sturdy being gently pounded into late summer ground w/ a rubber mallet. When they hit a rock, I could bend them back easy enough and start over.
