  • The device I have is NOT for anyone easily frustrated!
Color: Stainless steel
*** Update to my initial review *** 3 April -- 20 minutes this morning to brew 3 double-cups, clean the machine, and tidy everything. As another reviewer mentioned...the pump is very noisy (a deep rattle-y sound). I am getting better at loading the ground coffee into the coffee strainer. 1 April -- Now that I can brew my coffee with minimum irritation, I would rate it with 4 stars--still too much inconsistency and irritation with the control icon activation to warrant 5 stars. Also no response by vendor/amazon/manufacturer as yet to my questions/review comments (maybe my machine IS acting the way it was designed). I ordered this machine after spending a month in Australia and New Zealand...drinking 2 or 3 flat whites every day. Have not achieved the flat white "flavor" (don't care about the decoration). The brewed coffee doesn't taste like the espresso I drank in Australia and New Zealand. The amount of super strong coffee brewed is so small that 3 double-cups barely fill half of my mug. What I've been doing for coffee (for the last week or so) is to make those 3 double-cups and either steam milk to add to it or top it with coffee from my French press. I would prefer to make 4 oz of espresso at one "pull" rather than 3 "pulls", but until I find a machine to do that for less than $200, this machine will do. The control icons are still inconsistent...but, if swiping up doesn't activate them, sweeping down usually does and it only adds a few seconds to the process. Here are my other observations between the original post and this updated post: 27 March -- Things have improved a little since 24 March. I'm able to brew my coffee and clean the machine in 15 minutes or so (I brew 2 or 3 double-cups for my daily drink). What I have learned since my initial post: When the manual says "press" or "press and hold" -- DO NOT push, just lightly rest the "meat" of the finger against the icon. Sometimes you have to sweep the finger up (or down) when releasing the icon. (Think about lightly sweeping lint or dust off your touch screen device.) When turning the power on, it is easy to know when to release...the other icons light up. Turning power off is harder. For the "3 second" hold, I count "one-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand"...sometimes it goes to "four-one thousand"...maybe on those times I'm counting faster than others. No comment on the quality of the coffee brewed, other than each cup has a lot of crema even without using espresso beans/grind. I'm still using coffee I have on hand...both pre-ground and beans. I'll buy espresso coffee when I'm confident that I and the machine are working together acceptably. 28 March -- Purchased espresso coffee. Flavor of brewed coffee is about the same as when I used my usual dark roasted coffee beans. Still no response to my original post and its questions. *** Original Review *** This is only an initial review and a cry for help from the vendor/Amazon. If things improve or if I find I have a faulty product, I will update this review. 21 March - Received the unit about 6 pm. I've been trying to learn and use the machine daily. Today (24 March) it took me 27 minutes to brew one double-cup, steam milk, and clean the brewer "works". Being a retired research and analyst, I have made copious notes on what I've tried and what worked and did not work. Unfortunately not everything that has worked, works the next time. I accidentally reprogrammed the double-cup setting today, but was able to undo that by following the instructions in the downloadable PDF file available on Amazon. The downloaded instructions are a little easier for me to follow than the manual that came in the box with the machine. There is NO tactile feedback when you touch a control icon. No way to tell if you are pressing too hard or not hard enough, unless something actually happens (icons blink or go out or the machine starts doing something). Unfortunately, you may have pressed something too long or too often and then you have triggered something you did not want. Today, the machine's icons seemed to respond better to a light sweeping touch. Yesterday, the flat of the thumb worked to activate an icon, but not today. Because of this inability to know I've activated or deactivated an icon, I hesitate to use the manual brew icon...what if I can't get it to stop? I guess I could just unplug the machine. I'm not happy right now...too much frustration trying to operate it...I don't trust that I can get it to do what I want (Is it me or the machine?)...I don't want to spend 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee! On the plus side, the funnel with coffee strainer sits flat/level on the counter and makes filling it with coffee easy. My old espresso machine (a Maxim purchased 35 years ago) did not do that--had to balance the funnel or fill the strainer separately before placing coffee strainer in the funnel. The footprint of the device is reasonable...takes up about the same space as my Bunn Vortex Brewer. I have some questions, that I hope the manufacturer/vendor can answer: (1) what is the purpose of the "buoy" in the drip tray; (2) what is the purpose of the "flip" piece on the funnel handle near the funnel; and, (3) does the finger have to cover the whole icon (rather than using the end or tip of the finger to activate an icon)? The manual did not state what the buoy is for, but I did figure that out (today)...as the drip tray fills with water a red button will poke through the drip tray. How much it sticks through depends on how much water is in the tray. ... show more

  • Solid Espresso Machine with Learning Curve
Color: Stainless steel
The media could not be loaded. *EDITED 08/28/2023 to 5/5 star rating*: Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) I've had the pleasure of using this espresso machine for a while now, and I must say, it's exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and value. After getting to know its features and performance, I'm confident in giving it a solid 5-star rating based on my experience and the quality of espresso it consistently delivers. My journey with this machine began on 08/10/2023, and since then, I've come to appreciate its many positive attributes. As an avid espresso enthusiast, I meticulously researched various options before settling on this one. Its competitive price point, coupled with its impressive features, made it an irresistible choice for me. Here's what I've come to love about this espresso machine: Pros: • The unboxing experience was seamless and hassle-free. • The stainless steel design adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen. • The build quality feels sturdy and durable. • Initial accessories provided are of good quality, though I approach the plastic scoop/tamper cautiously. • The user manual is well-written and easy to understand. • I was pleasantly surprised by the proactive communication from Customer Service, offering valuable tips and tricks ahead of the product's arrival. • While my journey began with some learning curves, the initial challenges were quickly overcome: Cons: • I found the cleaning process to be slightly more intricate than expected, but with time, it became second nature. • Adding water requires a careful hand to prevent spillage, which is a minor inconvenience. • Initially, attaching the double shots filter to the portafilter required more force than I anticipated. • There was some leakage from the portafilter during espresso brewing, resulting in slight wastage. • Frothing milk took a bit of practice to master, but once learned, it produced great results. • While the espresso's flavor was an improvement over my Ninja Coffee Machine's specialty drinks, it wasn't a monumental leap. In the grand scheme of things, these minor drawbacks are far outweighed by the positives. To mitigate any concerns about plastic taste, I diligently followed the priming and cleaning instructions before my first espresso. Routine cleanup is a breeze—just a quick wipe-down of residue and regular maintenance of the drip tray and frother components. Considering its exceptional convenience, competitive price, and the substantial savings it offers compared to other alternatives, this espresso machine is a fantastic investment for any coffee lover. Based on my experience, I'm confidently awarding it a well-deserved 5-star rating. My initial review of 4/5 was slightly reserved due to the initial learning curve, but after continuous use and enjoyment, I've seen its true potential. I trust my updated review will provide valuable insights for others contemplating this product. Whether you're an espresso aficionado or a casual coffee drinker, this machine is definitely worth every penny. --------------- **Original 4/5 star rating**: I've been using this espresso machine for a short while now, and while it had a few bumps at the start, I'm finding it to be a solid choice. I wanted to share my initial experiences and thoughts after purchasing it on 08/10/2023. As someone who's always been interested in espresso machines, I was drawn to this one due to its reasonable price point compared to some of the more high-end options. I did my research thoroughly, analyzing product details, ratings, and pros and cons before making my decision. Ultimately, I opted for this machine. Pros: • Unboxing was hassle-free. • The stainless steel model looks great. • The product feels durable and well-built. • Initial accessories seem good, although I'm cautious about the plastic scoop/tamper's fragility. • The manual is straightforward. • Impressed by the proactive Customer Service communication offering tips and tricks before the product's arrival. However, there were some initial challenges: Cons: • The cleaning process wasn't as simple as I expected; there was a learning curve. • Adding water was easy but requires careful placement to avoid spillage. • Attaching the double shots filter to the portafilter was difficult and required some force, causing the machine to move on the countertop. • During the espresso brewing, there was leakage from the portafilter, causing some waste. • Frothing milk was a bit messy and required practice to get used to the motion. • The taste of the espresso was better than my Ninja Coffee Machine's specialty drink option, but not a major leap. Overall, I find this to be a good product with both its advantages and drawbacks. To mitigate any plastic taste concerns, I followed the priming and cleaning instructions before making my first espresso. Cleanup is manageable by wiping down residue and regularly cleaning the drip tray and frother components. Given its convenience, price, and the savings compared to other alternatives, this espresso machine is a worthwhile investment. I've rated it 4/5 due to the mentioned pros and cons, but I'm optimistic about further improvements as I continue to use it. I hope my review provides some insights for others considering this product. ... show more
