Mechanically speaking ,this is a superior engine compared to the one that I purchased years ago . This engine kit has mounts to fit large diameter tubes found on modern bicycles it includes the plate adapter for the front mount ,allowing the engine to be attached to a variety of different frame types. It has larger allen head (internal six point) bolts on the main case as well as for the clutch ,ignition and drive sprocket covers , much better than Phillips hardware. Opening the clutch cover reveals the crank gear has an allen bolt rather than the slotted bolt found in many previous engines . I found the sprocket drive and the clutch actuator parts well greased and ready to go . Removing the cylinder and head ,nuts were properly torqued, the piston was installed in the correct orientation and had the more secure wrist pin clips. The cylinder was clean and had oil on it (good) ,the intake and exhaust ports did not have any degree of excess material. There was a slight unevenness of the crankcase where the cylinder attaches but the base gasket seals it fine. The carburetor has an O ring to ensure sealing and a hex head clamp bolt providing secure attachment. I had an issue with a defective ignition but my message to the vendor was replied to promptly and replacement parts are being shipped to me . When we received this product, there were missing parts and defective parts in the kit. We’ve had this installed less than 2 months and it has stopped working multiple times and no longer works at all. Would shut off while riding and wouldn’t stay on. Very disappointed.

    • The kit needs some updating
This kit is really fun if you like fiddling with mechanical stuff. It is a great way to learn about motor bike mechanics. And the end product can be really fun. But it has some flaws 1. The installation manual is a bit dated The manual is dated 2008. Some of the wiring colors have changed, so youtube videos wont help as much. It doesn't help with wiring, there is a 3rd white wiring that is redundant and unnecessary for the thing to work. Yet I didn't see any mention of this in the manual. You can figure it out, but it was annoying. Oh and the photos are 2008 quality and small size. The content otherwise is helpful, the text is well written minus the lack of electrical instructions. 2. The bike mounts are made for thin framed bikes Since 2008 bike frames have gotten thicker. The ubolt in particular was too narrow to fit my frame. I had to get someone to weld up a different one so it would fit around my bike. They really should update this kit to have a wider ubolt mount, because most mountain bikes have thicker frames. 3. Everything related to the chain This is the worst problem. Chain alignment has been difficult, I've had every issue imaginable. I've had the chain come off the sprocket and get lodged between the spokes, I've had it go off towards the bike frame too. I've had it come off the sprocket on the engine and get jammed between the clutch lever cover, requiring me to remove this cover. Maybe some of this is installer error, but I'm no novice, it's either really hard to get right, or partly the design. The chain tensioner mounts in 1 place and vibrates around. It can either vibrate outwards and no longer tension the chain, or worse, go inwards towards the spokes. I recommend buying the upgraded chain tensioner that mounts in 2 places. Seriously, get the upgraded chain tensioner, if not for the frustration it will save you do it for the safety aspect. 4. Clutch is hard to get right I messed with the clutch which might be my fault. But I've had a problem where one notch in the adjuster is too tight (engine is always engaged), while one setting is too loose (engine never engaged with wheel). It's really finicky. I don't hate this kit, and the end product is genuinely fun. But there are a few changes they could do to significantly improve the experience. Then again, maybe that's what I should expect for buying the cheapest kit. If you expect this to go flawlessly, you'll be severely disappointed/unhappy. If your the problem solving type, then your in for a real treat. ... show more

Got this thing built pretty fast, pretty much plug in play. No problems yet, I've ridden through almost 3 tanks of gas, and it runs pretty well, definitely needs an expansion chamber, that stock exhaust is really restricting. And I had to flip the exhaust because the pedals hit it when it's facing down, going to bend though ... show more

This is the 4th bike I’ve built. I have spent much more on other engines that are not half as good as this one. The engine is solid with plenty of power. Fired right up on the first go. The mounting hardware is pretty average, fits a wide range of bikes. I did have to modify a few pieces, but that is typically. I bought this engine thinking that it would be a good quality but it's not it is cheap Chinese metal I had problems with turning it over it would not start I turned it over with the air ratchet and it ended up rounding the spindle inventing the crankshaft on the threads ended up having to retap. If you really want a motorbike kit by a very expensive well-made engine not some cheap engine cuz it's not made of good quality and you'll need a new spark plug because the one they give you doesn't burn hot enough to start it. Please don't waste your money like I did it's not worth it and don't make the same mistake I did ... show more
