So, I was supposed to make something like this for my sister-in-laws wedding but I couldn't make it work with the tools I had. My wife freaked out because it was 5 days before the wedding and we had no ring box for her little sisters wedding. I looked through the different options on Etsy, thinking we could do something hand-made on that platform but they wanted $40+ for one little box she would use 1 flipping time! Our 4-year-old son was supposed to be the ring bearer and I could just see him with a box with no lid, losing the rings. So, with the time and box specifications in mind I looked on Amazon. I will be honest, after reading some of the reviews mentioned above I was a little nervous. My wife did not tell her sister we were doing this because she didn't want her to freak out. I decided that based on the time frame we had and the budget to go ahead and buy this one. We are so GLAD we did. The ring box came in perfect time and my sister-in-law was so happy with it! The lid is a little tight but that works perfectly because it means the lid isn't sliding around opening and closing all of the time. She didn't have any trouble with the bark or the size of the ring hole. Both his and her rings fit in it perfectly and without trouble. As far as the lid and base goes, they were a perfect match. This is a little smaller than I expected (it fits easily in the palm of my hand, and the space inside is even smaller), but it is more than large enough to hold our wedding rings. We are having a very natural but not rustic (think enchanted forest, not barn) theme and this will be perfect. The quality seems fairly good. This is so cute and perfect. It goes with my wedding theme so well. The only thing is that it's a little hard to slide open, but I'm gonna open it a lot to try to get it to open easier. It's so beautiful though.

Purchased to hold the rings for my daughter's elegant-rustic wedding. The ceremony will be held in a pine grove. I bought the "... whole heart... whole life" box. It twists shut snugly, so no worries of dropped rings if you're having a ring bearer. The grain/bark lines up nicely when shut. The bark is naturally protruding in some areas (as it should be), which, at first, I thought would be of some concern; I thought it might chip away when handled. But after opening and closing several times, rubbing my fingers around the edges, and even gently pulling at the natural gaps in the bark, nothing chipped off. Small pieces will, though, if something snags it just right or if you're someone who just likes to sit and pick at things. Something that caught my eye at first and made me think, "hmm...", is that it sits at a slight slant. It's not wonky at all -- the cuts are even and parallel -- it sits like an oblique cylinder. That slight concern went away quickly; how it sits is part of its natural charm. The engraving placement is good. However, parts of the outer words are a little too light. Something some might not notice, but I see it each time I look at it. Another thing that draws my attention, is that it has a slight dirty look to it, or dragging marks. Maybe it's path marks from the cutting tool or engraving tool, or maybe it's naturally there (??). Again, I see it every time I look at the box, but someone else might not unless pointed out to them. Lastly, the compartment is sanded and all but baby's bottom smooth. The too few to count, less-than-perfect spots were of no concern to me at first, but when thinking more of the intended cargo, I think a little more detailed sanding/cleaning would have been a good idea. I'm not particularly concerned with the rings being damaged at all, but may line the box or add a small jewelry pouch anyway. ... show more
