  • Mostly Good, I'll Tell, You Why 4.5 Stars
This is a pretty well-made kit, the rubber is pretty thick and feels good quality. Here's where they fall down. A. The inside diametres on both are just a touch too small, I had to put silicone brake pin slide lube on the plastic bells to get the rubber boots to slide on, they are super-tight. B. The smaller length piece of the two, from the throttle body to the air transfer tube, has the stainless aircraft clamps oriented incorrectly, one is 90 degrees rotated from the other. This makes installing the boot and then tightening the clamps difficult, if you position one clamp to be easily reached by screwdriver or small socket, the other is pointing towards the ground. Just flip them over, you say? Well, yes, you could except they have positive location tab bumps molded in that fit into a hole in the clamp body. So I suppose you could cut one of them off, etc, etc, but this should have been better engineered. Solution here is just tighten one of them down all the way, then have it unreachable underneath and then deal with the other during final installation. C. The larger of the two boots, from the air filter housing to the transfer tube, also has positive retention tabs but these clamps could be removed and spun around, then reinstalled over the tabs and installed onto the truck w/o too much effort. Problem basically solved. Sadly, this is very very common among Chinese designed and manufactured parts, they are so close to being good, they get 95% of the way there, then stumble and fall face-down in the alley. It shouldn't be necessary during a shade-tree mechanic session to have to reengineer parts that fit most of the way correctly. Overall for the price they are pretty good, not sure I'd buy these again, if I have to, the OE parts had the clamps oriented correctly and only reason they got kicked was that after 9 yrs, the short boot from the throttle body to the transfer tube split horizontally right next to the throttle body clamp, wasn't real obvious til I removed it to get to the upper front of the engine for coolant and vacuum hose replacements and discovered this could be a potential dirty air leak into the intake, after the air filter and MAF assemblies. ... show more

  • It fit my 2007 Nissan Frontier.
I used both of these hose replacements and saved the old ones just in case. They have been on my truck for over 2 years and show no signs of wear. It was a little tricky to slip on the new hoses because it was tight. I used a little Vaseline lubricant to help slide them on. I should have used Silicone grease (the same kind used by plumbers). But I did not think of it at the time. If I had to re-assemble it again, I would use the latter. The old Hoses were worn and cracked. This saved me a lot of money by doing it myself. ... show more

  • Screw hose clamps useless
The rubber intake hoses seem to be fine - they fit firmly and no gaps. Only a few years of use will tell whether the rubber compound is decent or not. However, what failed immediately were the hose clamps - cheap junk that on one the screw didn't even touch the clamp and the others the screws failed upon minimal torque. So if you have OEM hoses that you are replacing, salvage and reuse those clamps and the job will be done. As the hose clamp retaining nipples are located in a different place, clip those off the new hoses to make the installation easier. ... show more
