This bed rail has really quality, I have been using it every day since last Christmas for my 5-year kid, it's still robust. It can be folded down, so in the day time, doesn't affect anything. This is a nice-looking bed rail that will do the job but has a couple things that could work better if using it for an older child or adult. One Y-shaped strap runs between the mattress and box spring and has a metal weight at one end. I suppose the expectation is that the weight of the mattress will hold it in place, but it doesn't. A separate strap for each side that runs fully around the box spring and connects back to the beginning would be a big improvement. The buttons on each end to fold the rail are a bit of a hassle. Push the button to release the rail on one end, dash to the other to do the same thing, and often the first button has snapped back into place. Using it for an adjustable bed for a bed-bound adult. Adjusting the foot of the mattress causes the L-shaped under-mattress foot that's to hold the rail fall out. I used a strap I had on hand around the box spring to secure that end of the rail. ... show more

We installed the additional strap too. We just transitioned our toddler into a twin bed. The frame is a platform bed with wooden slats so we were able to screw this rail in to secure it. Very sturdy and easy to move up and down. This has given us peace of mind and made the transition easy!

We have used this bed rail on a toddler bed and an RV bunk for our 2 year old. It works great and was fairly easy to install. If you accidentally hit the wrong lever, then you do have to lift the whole bed up to reinstall. I didn't known I needed this until I actually needed this. I have a bunk bed for my kids. The top matress goes beyond the top rail, making it unsafe for my youngest to sleep on. Just what I needed. He hasn't had a problem sleeping in his bed since then.It does move because of the way I have it positioned between my bunk beds, the only thing that's supporting it are the rails under his mattress so I had to put cardboard to keep the legs positioned. ( cardboard is what I could afford it'd be better to use wood if your in a similar situation) This serves as his border so he can know when he's to close to the edge. He would have to do a whole lot of kicking and pushing for it to fall. I feel safe with it there. ... show more
