So, I bought these in December of 2019, so this is unbiased and based on well over a year of heavy to moderate usage (corona kind of shifted how much I was playing PS4) At first, I would’ve given these a 5 star rating. After all, they don’t DO much, and they only really need to serve one or two functions: extend the thumb placement and increase accuracy of your thumb stick movements. These did so while not being too ridiculously tall (there are some absurd “lifted” ones on the market) and while having a nice texture and cool design. Here’s why I’m here today writing this. My orange PS4 controller these were applied to started getting mild drift in the left stick about a month or two ago. I chalked it up to dust on the shelf where I keep the controllers charging. I tried cotton swabs, pressurized air, and all manner of rotations to eliminate any dust that might be trapped there, but to no avail. My shelf is enclosed with a singular glass pane, I was perplexed as to how so much dust could enter into the crevices of this device and cause it what was now increasing levels of drift, what with the mostly dust-proof cabinet. So I finally caved and bought a new PS4 controller (not on Amazon, if you go look at reviews on those you might find some suspecting counterfeit products being sold). I took these off my old controller to apply to the new one (you know, because I like them). What I found was shocking - there is a very thin, almost slimy, film left on the top of the thumb sticks where these grips were previously. I was dumbfounded. What could this mystery snail trail be? I tried wiping off the bottoms, chalking it up to simple changes in humidity due to winter, some bullshit excuse that would calm my mind. Well, I put just one, ONE, of these grips on my new gold PS4 controller (a tacky color, I know) and it nearly immediately started to physically stick in its socket due to this mystery ooze. I took it off faster than I could type this review. To be fair to KontrolFreek, I have their Destiny gray PS4 grips on my other controller, and have had those on for longer. I took them off to check - no residue. But this is as mysterious as it is gross, and I suspect it at the absolute least played a part in helping my controller develop unusable levels of drift. I would avoid these based on this possibility alone - the PS4 controller as nice as it is has second-only-to-the-switch levels of drift on its own - this only exacerbated the problem. I’ve tried to attach some pictures of the grip bottoms so you can see what I mean, but I doubt the camera does it the gross justice it deserves. I am forced to rate low here despite the ergonomics of the product (you know, 95% of the point of them) are indeed quite nice. I wouldn’t mind having the pair replaced if they reach out to me. I’m not trying to blackmail them - I really do like their other products, I have a pair on one Xbox controller and my other PS4 controller - but this was just weird. Hopefully a unique situation, but I’m off to read other reviews. ... show more

The Atomic KontrolFreek is the only medium convex thumb sticks they make. It took me a couple of tries with different thumb sticks to choose these. The thumb sticks needed will vary mostly based on the size of your hands. My hands are on the average-smallish size, but the small thumbsticks did not provide enough elevation over the control knobs. If you have large hands then large concave or convex thumb sticks may be a better choice for you. The type of control may differ based on the game you play, but this is less a variable than the hand size. ... show more

I game a lot... especially during the crazy Rona situation. I've been using the low pro risers for a long time and they truly do enhance your gaming. the textured grip makes slippage non-existent and they take a long while to wear down. I have a pair on all of my remotes!
