I love the size of it and the numbers are really easy to read so I got excited about actually starting it. When I opened up the paint however the paint was so dry that I couldn't save it. I did try with no luck. I did rate it a 4 because I was able to return it and get another one shipped out to me however if the paint in that one is also all dried up like this one, I will change my rating to a lower number and I won't receive the new painting until Sunday September 24th Update: I received it a day early it did have one small blemish on it but honestly I don't mind it so much the paint as far as I can tell is great!! ... show more

When I opened the paints over 1/2 of them were just a solid goop. I put water in the to try and stir them up didn't help. I then tried water and and left them to sit overnight. It turned out a little better. Using the paint made a really watery color. Not happy with the way the picture turned out.,

Been having a difficult time getting back into painting. Let me tell you, these paint by numbers are fantastic so far. Gives me an easy target to paint and baseline, then go back in and work on shading etc. Colors are a bit off, but if you understand how they make these kits it's kinda understandable. Getting the right combo of limited colors to get the right amount of definition is tough. I feel like these did the original picture justice. Pro Tips: Get reading glasses, I don't care how young your eyes are, it helps (unless your nearsighted, if that's the case, this is defin the hobby for you!!); buy some better brushes (they don't have to be pricey, I did this full painting with a tiny spotter brush); keep the reference picture and the black and white print out handy while painting, it's easy to get lost after you've done a section and the blue and purple start to get tough to follow late in the painting; if your paint dries out, just add a drop of water, it will loosen up the flow nicely; if you have an old canvas frame, even if it's painted, you can take this canvas and staple gun it over to have a good surface to paint on... I think that's about it. I'd give this a 4 out of 5, since it is a bit difficult at first. This was my first paint by number, and it took me about 2 months in between work and other hobbies. So really not a bad gift for first timers either. Happy painting!!! ... show more

I used to love to paint and when I was way younger enjoyed doing the paint by numbers. So to pass time I decided to get this to see if I could spark that love that I had tucked away for many years. I really, really, wish it did not say "oil" when it's actually acrylic...although yes, in the product description it does say acrylic, to mention oil anywhere in the titling is a little deceptive. Since, silly me, I saw "oil" I was excited to receive this. When I saw "rinse brushes with water" and smelled the paint I knew it wasn't and realized the medium was indeed acrylic. For these projects I much prefer oil, easier to work with and layer/blend because it doesn't dry out too fast...which could also be a con, but nonetheless what I was hoping to work with. The lighter colors didn't cover the numbers, I'd have had to do layers to fully conceal them. The brushes are your basic, cheap brushes. I still used them as I didn't have smaller head better ones available and if I decide to keep doing projects like this then I'll probably invest in a better set. Up close my painting kinda looks like a mess, but further back can be more appreciated lol. If you're OCD about staying in the lines, good luck. I personally was not and knew I wouldn't fully, so that wasn't a big deal. Despite that I did give it 4 stars. Why? Because it would be good for beginners being it is in acrylic and the clean up is a lot easier. I did put it on my wall, I should probably consider buying the framing to mount it, but meh, it's fine as it is since it's in my bedroom lol. ... show more

Every time I try to order this painting (3), at least a quarter or more of the pants are dried beyond being able to be saved. I thought maybe I could mix and match and at least have enough to complete one painting. But it’s always the same basic colors. I sent ask for a refund, bcz I ordered 2 more, knowing what happened with the first. I’m just resting to save someone else from ever trying to but it. ... show more

I’m only on day 3 of this painting and it’s coming along great! A few tips I’ve learned along the way: - Paint the black last - Add a little glob of paint over the lighter colors (like 1-3) to fully cover the number so you can’t see it through the paint. - If you are painting with one color for a long time, the paint starts to crust up on the brush. Just dip in your water cup, pat dry with paper towel and continue with that same color. Cons: (Nothing horrible, just minor notes) 1. I guess they fold it so it fits in their little kit box, but I think it would be smarter to roll it (less annoying creases). I’ve used binder clips and an old amazon box to try and pull it flatter. The cardboard makes it firm, but still easy to move around as you work on different sections. 2. There are a few empty white spots with no number (even on the reference sheet) but I looked at the picture and picked what color I think best fit. ... show more
