  • Comparison of two brands
Size: Large Color: Cobalt / Royal Blue
I bought two brands of the Transformer/Infinity dress to compare, Koh Koh and VonVonni. I’m going on a Greek cruise next month and I got it into my head that on formal night I wanted my dress to look something Greek Goddess-y. I ordered both brands in Royal Blue and in the size recommended by the manufacturer to fit me. For reference, I am a 55 year old woman, quite a bit older than the typical bridesmaid. I normally wear a U.S. size 12. I’m 5’4” and have a 32” waist. Both dresses fit me fine. This style is super fun to experiment with all the different ways to wrap and twist it. Whoever originally came up with the idea for this dress was a genius! Now there are many, many brands to choose from, some more expensive, some less. I decided not to go with the brands in the $25 range because I was afraid the fabric would be too thin. Both the Koh Koh and VonVonni have similar thickness of fabric. In the royal blue color neither is at all transparent. Both dresses are unhemmed but the fabric doesn’t fray, so you can just trim them to length with sharp scissors. ( But read more on that below.) Both dresses come with free returns so you can order with confidence. ( But read more on that below.) Now here are the differences: Advantage Koh Koh: their royal blue color is a little more “royal” to my mind. It’s not so obvious in photos, but in real life the Koh Koh has a slightly prettier color; the VonVonni is a tiny bit less vivid and a TINY bit more towards gray/green. On the basis of color, I’d choose Koh Koh. Advantage Koh Koh: as you can see in the pictures I posted, the Koh Koh does NOT have a seam down the back. If for some reason you wanted to wrap the dress with the straps starting in back (a few of these styles can be found internet) you wouldn’t want to do that with the VonVonni, because it has a seam that would be in your front. On the other hand, all the styles where you start with the dress turned around require a matching bandeau which neither dress comes with! So the seam in the back of the VonVonni dress is pretty much irrelevant in my opinion. Advantage VonVonni: as of now, it’s $10 cheaper on Amazon. Advantage VonVonni: the skirt is about 2 inches longer than the Koh Koh. I’m 5’4” and in two inch heels the VonVonni still puddles on the ground and needs to be trimmed, whereas the Koh Koh is about the right length for me. BUT if you or your bridesmaids are taller than me, the Koh Koh may be too short for you! I’d say if you are more than 5’6” you may need to wear flats, and if you are 5”8 or above, probably forget the Koh Koh. If you are 5’10” or above I predict both brands will be too short. Advantage VonVonni: the VonVonni does not have any sales tags attached to get in the way when you are trying it on and experimenting with styles. The Koh Koh has two tags attached, saying that they cannot be removed if you want to return the dress. I understand why they do this, but it does make the Koh Koh trying on experience less pleasant than with the VonVonni. Advantage VonVonni: the straps on the VonVonni are a good 16 inches longer than the Koh Koh! (See picture). That means some tie styles you might want to try may not work on the Koh Koh unless you are a lot skinnier than me. As you can see in the side-by-side pictures of my back (sorry for the bathroom selfie) the VonVonni still has plenty of strap length hanging down, whereas the KohKoh can be barely tied in a knot. For me that was the deal breaker and caused me to keep the VonVonni and return the Koh Koh. ... show more

  • Perfect fit, Perfect color, Very Versatile!
Size: XX-Large Color: Cobalt / Royal Blue
Was preparing for a cruise and bought a more "formal" dress for the Captain's Dinner. Then my husband told me there were TWO formal dinners! I found this dress in this color (royal/cobalt) & decided "why not?" I was thrilled when it arrived- I took it out of the package and it didn't have a single wrinkle - Quite a plus for a cross country trip! The color was perfect to go with the jewelry he bought me and when I started playing with it after watching a couple of YouTube videos I realized I could create enough looks that no one would realize I was wearing the same dress- So, I left the original formal which cot me 10 times as much at home and just took this! Everyone raved about it- even the photographers on the ship! ... show more

  • Great quality, but ...
I bought 3 different convertible dresses to try for my sister's wedding: 1) PERSUN Infinity Gown Dresses Multi-Way Strap Wrap Convertible Maxi Dresses For Womens 2) KOH KOH Womens Long Bridesmaid One Shoulder Convertible Wrap Cocktail Maxi Dress 3) VonVonni Women's Transformer Dress Black One Size Fits USA 2-10 I originally intended to buy the VonVonni dress ($35), but it was out of stock in the color I needed when I actually went to purchase. So I bought the PERSUN dress ($25) first, as it was a similar price point. The PERSUN dress was problematic because there simply wasn't enough fabric. I'm 5'3", 130 lbs, 34D, and I felt like my boobs were going to fall out at any moment, no matter how I wrapped it! Eventually I caved and purchased the KOH KOH dress ($50), even though it was more than what I wanted to pay. It fit perfectly, plenty of fabric so that I could wrap it multiple ways and always felt secure. The fabric was also heavier with a better drape than the PERSUN dress. I returned the PERSUN dress and fully intended to keep the KOH KOH ...but then Amazon send me a notification saying the VonVonni dress was back in stock! So I decided to purchase it, on the off-chance I could save myself $15. As it turned out, the VonVonni and KOH KOH dresses were quite similar - the fabric was a little different, but of a similar quality, and the cut was very similar. So in the end I sent the KOH KOH dress back and kept the VonVonni because it was cheaper. One additional note: all three dresses were far too long for my 5'3" frame. The night before flying to the wedding, I sat on my bed with the dress and a pair of scissors and eyeballed a hem. I probably removed about 3" of fabric. I did not use hem tape or anything similar, I just cut the fabric with the scissors in a relatively straight line. Because it's a type of spandex, it doesn't unravel. I imagine it might be harder to get a clean looking line on lighter fabrics, but because my dress was black it worked like a charm. No one was looking at my feet anyway! ... show more

  • Order one size smaller! BEAUTIFUL dress!!
I LOVE this dress. I got a large and usually wear an XL. READ THE REVIEWS, you will probably need a smaller size than normal. The dress is amazing and I've gotten so many compliments on how cool it is. I'm wearing it as my reception dress for my wedding. I got the dark teal and it's the same color as in the picture, the material is soft, a little stretchy and comparable to jersey knit (but more forgiving) and it's super flowy! The length is perfect but I'm 5'1 (and to add, I am not super skinny either..I can honestly say this dress would look good on any body type). My mother loved the dress so much she ordered one for herself in white and one for me in Navy Blue. I can't wait to see the next two, i'm hoping the quality will be just as good! My only pet peeve..and it's a small one..there are very small marks on the dress (like maybe 4) that look like maybe oil or something. I hand washed it and they didn't come out..kind of smudged a little bit. They're SO small though no one would ever notice...I just inspected the dress so I saw them. This is so minor compared to how awesome it is! ... show more
