  • Solid build, genuinely all-terrain, terrible turning radius, but worth the price
Color: Blue Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I flipped out of my flop and broke a ligament in my foot. I needed surgery and am non-weight bearing for the next three months. After a week of hopping around on one foot or on crutches, I started looking for a knee scooter. I needed one that could handle my walkways, my girth, and the grass to walk the dog in a pinch. This scooter has increased my mobility ten-fold. From the moment I get up, until the point where I go to sleep, I've been using this thing constantly for three weeks. I'm very impressed with it. I use it so much that I opted to get the memory foam pad, which helps if you need to be on it for a long stretch of time. A few usage pointers: If you want to use the scooter the same day it arrives, you're going to need a bicycle tire pump. I recommend you order it beforehand if you don't have one. The tires did come out of the box with air, but they had lost some in transit. This is normal for all tires like this. I have this pump and it works well for my road bikes and for the scooter. https://www.amazon.com/Shox-Shock-Pump-Swivel-Head/dp/B08T1J296N/ Bonus points for being compact and fitting in the basket and in my bike toolkit. I've been checking the tire pressures regularly and I've been losing 1 PSI per week on average. By way of comparison, my road bikes lose about 1 PSI per day. I'm finding that a top up once a week while doing a quick check to make sure nothing is loose is all the maintenance that's necessary. One of my first tests was taking the dog outside for a walk in my very hilly yard. I was amazed at how well it did. You'll need a decent sense of balance and enough strength to push yourself around, but the thing really is all-terrain. It can be tricky going up or down hills at odd angles. Just be patient and go slow. Pros: - All-Terrain: It really does go well on most surfaces: grass, brick pavers, gravel, etc... - Well-built: I'm pushing three bills, (of solid muscle obviously,) and it handles me just fine. - Stable: I've gotten on this thing at all sorts of crazy angles and not tipped over. - Basket: It may seem silly, but you need it. Really. It's nice that it came with one. - Light enough: It's about 30lbs, so it's not for everyone, but my wife is able to pick it up with ease. She gets it into an out of the back of her little SUV with no issues. I can easily lift it up with one arm. - Compact: Once you figure out the trick of shifting the lever to the side to allow it to fold, the steering handle folds up in seconds without much fuss. Cons: - Steering Radius: The only negative about this scooter. It's absolutely *terrible*. You can cut the wheel all the way and the circle you make will be about 7 feet in diameter. It's OK for small course corrections, but you'll have to get used to making 10-point turns or grabbing the brake and pulling a wheelie to change direction. - Brakes: They work really well, almost too well. It can be difficult to slow down gradually. - Brake Handle: As a right-handed person, I wish the brake handle was on the left-hand side, or better yet, both sides. I'd give this thing 4.5 stars if I could. It would be a no-brainer 5 stars if the steering could be a little tighter. ... show more

  • This thing is a HUGE help!
Color: Blue Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I ordered this scooter as soon as I broke a small bone in my foot because I know it will be at least 2 months until I am able to walk normally on it again. I also know from past experience with all kinds of strollers and scooters that I need a scooter with rugged pneumatic tires that can smoothly traverse rough and uneven outdoor surfaces as well as smoothly handle indoor transitions from wood to tile to carpet. This scooter has good reviews and it is from a reputable company and I am very happy with this product - I use it EVERY day while healing from this injury. ONE COMPLAINT: one of the tires was flat when we got it out of the box. I was going to call customer service but my husband decided to try to patch it first and, yay, his patch job worked! I was going to knock off a star for that flat tire but so far it has held up well and was fairly easy for my husband to take the tire apart to patch the inner tube. A few of the reviews complain about: 1) maneuverability/turning radius - I find no problem with that since I either have enough room to turn or I can easily/quickly do a 3 or 4 point type turn. 2) unstable without training wheel - I find no problem with stability with just the standard 3 wheels. Rides very smoothly and with good stability. 3) hard to fold/unfold - I find it incredibly easy & quick. 4) heavy to lift - I am 5'1", 120 lbs with a broken bone on one foot and bad back stenosis but I can still easily lift this scooter into and out of the back of my car. 5) hard to assemble - I can't really answer that one since my husband did that job; he doesn't like to read instructions and also doesn't like to assemble things but he felt bad that I was hobbling around... he said it wasn't that bad so, coming from him, that means it was pretty straightforward to assemble. 6) Knee pad isn't comfortable - I find it very comfortable and decided I do not need to order the additional cushion cover. Overall - a great product and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • High Quality and stable with out-board wheel attached
Color: Blue Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
The $125 scooters looked very fragile and flexible. The small wheels looked like a problem for going over raised (3") door thresholds. The solid wheels looked like a very bumpy ride. So I spent the extra $$$ for a higher quality, stable rig with air filled tires and a basket on the front because you quickly realize (after breaking an ankle) and becoming mobile again that crutches and knee scooters keep your hands occupied such that you can't carry anything with you that doesn't fit in your pockets. I've been using a back pack but that is cumbersome. Although the basket looks like a cute novelty item it is actually a necessity. You'll be kicking your self (with your good leg) if you don't spend the extra $$ to get the basket. This item is very well made, excellent high quality materials and workmanship. Assembly takes less than an hour working very slow...enjouing the process. It comes with all the tools you need for assembly and very good instructions. Be careful, all of these are tippy when going around a corner where you injured leg is on the outside of the turn. Once you start going over you can't save it so don't get in that position by going to fast or turning to sharp. Lowering the seat just one level makes a big difference in stability but the biggest help is putting on the 4th wheel. I did not think I'd used the 4th wheel, I am in good shape, good balance and could have used the scooter successfully without the 4th wheel but once I put it on just to test it out, I realized how much safer and stable the scooter was going around a corner with the bad leg on the outside of the turn. The basket is small so I also bought on Amazon a cart on wheels to push ahead of me while in the house. It can hold a bunch of different things. The bag portion is 14" x 14" x 13" deep. It is very useful and if you play tennis or pickle ball, once recovered from the injury you can use it to hold your practice balls. I could not find a home-store version of this that looked any better or at a good price. Stay away from the look a-likes with the very small wheels. ... show more
