  • Buy this product; it's fantastic!
Style: Scooter
Stop comparing knee scooters and buy this one! It's great. I currently live in the Middle East; it is dusty and sandy, roads are often unpaved or uneven, handicapped access is nearly non-existent, and there are many stairs and few ramps. This scooter goes everywhere easily except through sand. I was nervous after the wheels were so dusty and sandy that it was going to be ruined, but it's doing great and I've been using it for about 4 weeks now. I go slowly on uneven ground so that I don't flip off of it, but it works great and turns easily so I'm able to maneuver around pot holes, rocks, deeper patches of sand, and people, furniture, or other objects. The lack of ADA-accessible buildings and sidewalks means I often have to lift up the front wheels onto a curb, stand on my good foot, and lift the back wheels up, and it's light enough to do that. It has to be carried up and down stairs, and even my 74 year-old mother who is here helping out while I'm injured is able to lift it in/out of the car and up/down off of steps. It was easy to assemble, and didn't take long. The basket is tricky: it's advertised that it can come on/off, but it does not easily come on/off. I know others mentioned having to bend the meal to get it on, and that actually isn't the case; we did not bend the metal, but my husband who is in fantastic shape and very strong had to push very hard to get it on; it fit without bending the metal. I think it's supposed to be tight so that it doesn't slip off when you're picking up/putting it in the trunk, etc., but the basket really just takes quite a bit of muscle to get on. I couldn't get it on and I'm fairly strong as well. There is a black plastic knob right above the hooks for the basket which makes sliding the basket on difficult, so you have to hold the basket at an angle and push down hard until the basket bypasses the knob and slides into the basket hooks. It also folds down, and we've been able to fit it into the trunk of a car without taking the basket off. And, the padding: it just so happens that the knee I have to lean on has had multiple surgeries, and kneeling can become painful after a while. Even so, I'm able to be out and about for quite some time before having pain in my knee. It does have a decent pad on it. The heat makes my leg pretty sweaty on the vinyl, so I would invest in a soft cover if I were to need this during the hotter months. However, as far as cushion goes, it's keeping my knee with screws in it pretty comfortable. I'm extremely satisfied with this product, and I'm so happy I bought one with a basket. I've got young children, so I can carry their miscellaneous things, and when I go grocery shopping I have a place for my purse and a few items. Honestly, this product gave me my mobility back and I'm thrilled with it in every way. It's held up perfectly, and considering the heat, humidity, dust, sand, and tons of bumps it goes over, I know it has to be made well. It works as well now as it did when I first started using it. It has a hand break, but not a wheel lock. I've gone down steep hills with it; I squeeze the hand break and slide my foot on the ground to slow myself. When I'm on well-maintained ground it has a nice, smooth ride. I'm 5'4'' and I an adjust the handle bars and knee pad for my height. I can't believe anyone would give this product anything other than 5 stars. I purchased from the seller "Medical for You" and it was packaged perfectly and arrived quickly. • Well designed and simple to put together
Style: Scooter
Due to a very old injury, I needed a foot reconstruction. I am 62 year old female and anticipated using the scooter, crutches and a walker during my three month or longer recovery, as each device provides mobility at different stages. I also needed something on each floor of my 4-level home. Right now, I am in my 10th week of post recovery and still use the scooter much of the day. I rented from a medical device company for the first month and used a different brand. They charged $110 a month, so I wished I would have purchased my own scooter outright to begin with. However, I don't think I would have been able to decide which model would fit my needs if I had not used one prior to purchase. Kudos to Knee Rover for constructing a well engineered, sturdy product. The manufacturer provides knowledgeable people to talk to if you have questions prior to purchase and afterwards! Due to accessibility, I have been living in one level of my house during my recovery, and mostly on my own. My scooter gets me from my bedroom to my living area, kitchen and bathroom, but can I cannot get it up the stairs or outside by myself. I would not be able to lift it up the stairs or put into my vehicle while only being able to use one foot on the ground, so I need someone else to do that. The steering column folds down easily, and it fits in my crossover vehicle nicely. The knee cushion is comfortable, but while using it outside of the home, I found out that my knee needed the extra cushion that I had also purchased. I had a splint on in the beginning and have been wearing a surgical boot since then. I wasn't sure that I would like the molded knee cushion on this model, but am happy with that. I also like the fact that the rear wheels are set in further from the front wheels. This makes it easy to back up through doorways and other spaces instead of turning around on the scooter many times a day. For balance reasons when turning around, I believe the design makes it necessary to have a large radius available, so backing up is much simpler. There is a single brake that works well. However, I found that I need to pull back very hard on the handbrake in order to set it for locking. According to the manufacturer, this is a normal operation, not a defect. The frame and wheels are very sturdy. This scooter was simple to put together but I would suggest doing it before surgery or have someone assist you as it is not a lightweight piece of equipment and more difficult to deal with after surgery. I'm very glad I purchased the basket, which is simple to take on and off. The only recommendation I would give back to the manufacturer is that I wish the handlebars were designed with an extension to expand them out and then push back in.....maybe similar to the way the steering column is made. I understand they must be kept at a certain width to get the scooter through doorways easily, but while going on longer walks I feel my shoulders pinching together because of the width of the handlebars. Last but not least, the cobalt blue color is pretty cool. As I continued to figure out which height is best for me with the handlebars and the seat, I have less problems with my shoulders pinching while longer walks. ... show more

  • Stable, sturdy, nice wide wheel base.
Style: Scooter
This knee scooter surpassed my expectations. It’s been great to keep me mobile but off my sprained ankle. I feel safe on it (as long as I pay attention and I don’t do anything stupid.) It’s very sturdy, nice wide wheel base so I don’t feel I’m going to topple over. It was easy to put together (for my husband) and rides nicely on carpet, tile and concrete. It has a very slight squeak now but I think it’ll be fine once my husband tweaks the bolts or brakes. It does have a good brake (on handle) that also locks if you need to stop for a rest or chat with a neighbor. And…it’s a lovely, dark blue color. Downright pretty! I highly recommend it. BTW, I’m 74 so I was very discerning in my selection of a scooter. Don’t want to sprain or break anything else! ... show more
