Description

The Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated Tumbler 16oz is Klean Kanteen's best cup solution for hot coffee, cold brew, tea, beer, cocktails and water. The 16oz Insulated Tumbler will keep drinks hot for 4 hours and iced for 20. Long enough for coffee from your favorite coffee shop at work, and cool ice water during hot days by the pool. My first Klean Kanteen 8 ounce tumbler was purchased several years ago as a camping tumbler for whiskey based on a review in Outside magazine on whiskey tumblers. I had been gifted a 10 ounce Yeti Tumbler which functioned well for that purpose but left me with significant hand fatigue after a few Old Fashioneds. My friends with larger than normal hands echoed this complaint about what we considered an outstanding product. As a whiskey tumbler, I found it outstanding with similar insulating properties to the Yeti but significantly more aesthetically pleasing and a joy to hold. 8 ounces is an ideal size for portion control, which is an important consideration in a whiskey tumbler. Numerous people have complained about not being able to drain the tumbler easily with the lid on and that effect is real but it is a small amount of the contents and what can you expect for an insulated tumbler with thick walls? The insulation is excellent with no sweating on the outside and a wall temperature very near ambient. It is worth the purchase price for this application alone even if used for 2 or 3 camping weekends a year. It will survive drops with ease, but I do suggest hand washing with no appreciable soaking time as I would with any glued vacuum insulated container (which nearly all manufactured today are). As a camping whiskey tumbler I would give it a 9.5 out of ten There are several reviews singing the praises of this tumbler for 8 ounce coffee drinks from a national coffee chain. Excellent insulation, fits in cup holder, adequate lid. An important note would be that I advise against filling to the brim and placing in your cup holder -- a jostle will result in spilled coffee... I bought this as an important splurge to enhance my camping experiences but I have come to use this tumbler as my go to coffee cup at home, at work, and camping so it gets plenty of use. It functions great ....and I said this before, but: It is a joy to hold. It is not the ideal sized coffee container for a lot of people but it works very well for my coffee preferences. It pairs very well with the aero press coffee system which I use at home and camping. If I start traveling for work again I will carry this tumbler and my aero press so that I can have coffee that kicks hotel coffee in the butt and is personally preferable to coffee from that national chain -- at a fraction of the price ... show more

I had already had a great experience with Klean Kanteen, the insulation is really great, I usually use this style of cup for cold beverages + ice, and it takes a long time for the ice to melt. This was the first time that I buy the stainless steel version and I really like the look of it though it can be a little slippery comparing to the powder coated ones. So I added a silicone band from an old starbucks cup I had and it helps me get a better grip. I wish the sip lids could also accommodate the Klean Kanteen straws that I already have, so usually if I use the straw I use a lid also from that old Starbucks cup of mine and it fits the straw better, just wish I didn't need to have two style of caps for a cup. The size is great, it holds the perfect amount of smoothies or iced coffee that I usually drink, I don't know why they discontinued the 20oz size, so yeah, i recommend buying this product before it's gone. The only complain I have is that there was a sticker holding the paper sleeve with the brand around the cup and it got really sticky and hard to take it out and it left its mark on the cup. So I wish they did their packaging without having to stick anything on the cup. Overall happy with the purchase. ... show more

I'm amazed by this cup! Firstly, the lid is plastic, which I was disappointed by at first, considering this is supposed to be a Zero Waste alternative, but after some use I am extremely impressed. The silicon ring on the lid that makes the suction is removable and allows for really thorough cleaning. The lid has an open mouth opening to drink from which means no hinges from flippy closures for sugar to dry up in, and no crevaces from sliding closures that are impossible to clean without soaking for 100 hrs in warm water. The open mouth lid is simple and cleans easily the first time, plus the opening is big enough to fit a good amount of liquid (I've put liquids from coffees and sodas to smoothies and milkshakes and they all fit through the opening with no problem!) Since it's so easy to clean I don't predict having any issues that would warrant discarding it after some use like with the other type of lids I mentioned above, plus if it ever breaks, it can be recycled so I got over that part (Type 5 plastic). One thing I found strange was how thick the border of the cup feels when you're sipping. It took a few days to adjust to that, but it wasn't really a problem after that. I ordered the 20 oz because even though I don't drink much coffee I'm huge on smoothies and milkshakes, so I wanted to have plenty of space. Despite having a large capacity it still fits perfectly in a cup holder in the car, and is not too tall (fits under my Keurig when the spill tray is removed). I love the stainless steel bottom, just for the style of it, but be careful when setting down on glass or easily scratched surfaces. Now, about the heat and cold retention. THIS CUP IS AMAZING!!! As far as heat, my coffee lasts HOT for about 2 hrs and then stays warm for another 3 hrs or so, depending on how hot it was when I put it in. (And that is without "warming up the cup" by putting warm water in the cup before putting my coffee inside). Now the truly amazing part is the cold retention! I was so surprised the first time I realized how long this cup stays cold! I put ice and a juice in the cup for lunch at 3p (the cup started in hot car temperature before the ice and drink were poured in, and then was left at room temperature). The ice was still HARD at 7p. It had not even STARTED to melt!! I've tested it several times and always similar results, it lasts for HOURS! Now that time is cut significantly lower if left in a hot car or other extreme heat area, but I am amazed. I would recommend this cup to everyone!! Plus if you prefer using straws for thicker drinks, Klean Kanteen offers a straw lid that goes with this cup (I bought it but my husband claimed it for his cup, so I need a new one now!) By far one of the best investments I have made in my ZW journey, I take this cup everywhere, and since the ice lasts all day, I fill it up before I leave the house and have ice cold water all day, even after several refills! (Unless I start munching on the ice, which is a completely different problem....) ... show more
