I have a vehicle-obsessed 3-year-old son and he picked out a die cast bus just like this one on an end cap at Lowe’s one day that he played with for about a year and a half before it broke apart in his hands. Dude was devastated. Like everyone else on the planet, I immediately opened up Amazon for a replacement and found this one. It’s nearly identical and is just as sturdy and functional. My son plays rough - a lot of simulated car accidents, falling off cliffs, explosions, careening into large bodies of water, demolition derbies, and just general chaos. This thing takes a beating and holds up pretty well. Occasionally a tire will slip off a wheel that needs dads attention but its a quick fix. My daughter is on the spectrum and loves school buses. We got one from Target just like this one, and she carried it around/fuddled with it so much paint wore off the hood and eventually the bottom plastic cracked to the point where there was a sharp Edie and the wheels were about to fall out. Replacing one of her favorite pieces is risky, but she absolutely loved this and didn’t care it was a replacement. The quality seems slightly better then the Target one that was the same price and I could throw the broken one out without risking her being upset. ... show more

    • Great toy for my son
My son loves lots of things but currently he’s on buses. This school bus has some weight to it and seems to be mostly cast aluminum so the durability is pretty good. The doors that open and shut are also of good strength and he hasn’t broken them yet. The only thing that he broke so far is the little stop sign that folds out on the side. Since that’s the only plastic moving part it kinda makes sense. It’s relatively small though so it being fragile was a bit worrying. I thought he swallowed it at first but was able to find it since he spit it out after biting it. Maybe the next one I’ll just break off myself. The pull back action works nicely and he’s constantly zooming the bus around our hallway and walkways. All in all totally worth the money. Would buy again. ... show more
