The package arrived shortly after I ordered it. As soon as my son saw it, he loved it. The style is great (doesn't look cheap) and it fits great on his wrist (6 years old). We left it charging overnight and the following day we set it up. The calling function worked fine and it had cute pictures for each contact (mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, uncle and aunt, and 2 friends). When he called me, I heard him clearly on my phone, and he could hear me just as clear on the watch. I was really impressed with how good the calling function worked. It comes with a micro SD card where you can store music and pictures. He was surprised that it even brought one song (Let It Go - Frozen) so that he could test it right away. He enjoyed the music and camera functions and it had quite a variety of games. The one thing was that shortly after he played around with it to get to know how it worked, a message would pop up and the watch would freeze. We had to remove the battery and turn it on to reset it. We contacted Meritsoar right away and they were quick to respond. They apologized for the malfunction and immediately offered a refund and a replacement. I am waiting for the replacement and will update my review once I receive it. My son loved his watch so much my sister now wants to get my nieces 2 pink ones for themselves. I purchased this watch back in March. It worked fine for the price, but then my son broke it (not the manufacturer's fault). I purchased again last week and the watch I received is much different than what is pictured and the last watch I had purchased. The one I just received has cheap plastic parts instead of metal (it is advertised/photographed with metal parts, and the watch I received back in March had metal pieces). When it arrived, part of the plastic on the watch band was broke upon arrival so I chose to do an exchange. The new watch arrived today. Again, it is a cheaper version and not what is advertised. This time, there is a metal piece on the inside of the watch that came broken. I tried to make it work anyway, but the watch will not read my sim card. I'm assuming this is due to the broken internal metal piece, as my sim card worked fine with the original watch I purchased back in March. We love the basic features of the is watch phone for younger kids. We just wanted a way to get in touch with the kids when running a minute late for school pick-up or for them to let us know what time to pick them up from a play date without having to solicit the friend's parents for help. We did not want texting or anything more than the very basic gaming features offered on this option. We have bought several of these watch phones over the years. Recently, one had a cracked screen from being placed at the bottom of a backpack. I contacted the company to see if it's possible to replace just the screen and they sent us an entirely new phone. If you are looking for a "just okay" kinda watch for your kid, then this is it. Yes, you can call the watch while your child is away (range unknown) and your child can call you based on the preloaded phone numbers you designate but there still is no technical GPS on the watch. The watch design is a bit bulky for our soon to be nine year old, camera is on watch face too. To activate the calling feature you will need to order a SIM card, we did through Speedtalk Mobile via Amazon. The activation portion is a pain, but it could be worse. Battery life really depends on hold long the wearer of the watch plays with the games. There is not a way to override the sound on the games and it can be annoying. We have not uploaded music as it seems you would need to change the SIM card and that is just a pain. Overall, it's an okay watch. Better than spending a few hundred on a smart watch thru our cellphone carrier and wondering how quickly our son would lose it. I can think of worse ways to spend roughly $40. ... show more

I bought this watch with low expectations but initial impression is good. I grabbed a US MOBILE sim and activated it on my phone first. I then swapped it from my phone to the watch and it worked great without the need for additional configuration. (You have to slide then lift the sim holder to insert the sim card, sd card slides into the holder just to left of the sim) Calls went right through and were clear and easy to understand. The watch does what it says and I specifically chose thise one to avoid the gps/tracking software that come on so many of these types of watches. The games are basic and the camera is good enough for kids in grade school. Worth the money, but dont expect to get more than a year out of it. These watches that run on 2g are limited to the T mobile network in the US which is supposedly retiring 2g in 2020, though I havent seen a firm date yet. Bought this watch for my daughter So that she could have it in case of an emergency if during school or not around us. We got it late in the day and the next day she wore it to school and has not worked sense because it is completely scratched up and the top right corner is shattered will be returning we will try another watch and hopefully this will not. so that she could have it in case of an emergency if during school or not around us.
