This kit is real makeup down to the lip stick my daughter absolutely loved it but I do suggest you monitor your child with it

    • Nice set for ages 3 to 6
This is a nice set, but it is FAR too young-ish for our 9-year-old. I like that each item is individually wrapped, just in case there's any spilling or powder flaking. Mine didn't have any spills or flaking, though. The makeup is technically real (rather than plastic for pretend), but it's definitely dress-up makeup (as stated in the description), not the kind of makeup you'd wear in public. Everything comes in very cheap plastic containers, so cheap-feeling that I had to open everything to check that it was real and not pretend plastic makeup. The lipsticks were very hard to tell at first, because the lipstick itself looks like cheap plastic. The crown is very low quality, the kind you'd find in packs of a dozen for a dollar in the party favors aisle at the Dollar Tree. This set is the kind that would be enjoyed by little girls around 3 to 5 years old, maybe 6 if she's a young-minded 6-year-old or if she plays with younger friends. Another reviewer recommended this set for 9-year-olds. NO WAY! My family has lots of kids, and I also have worked with kids for about 30 years. I know kids very well. This set is FAR too young for our 9-year-old. If you give this set to a 9-year-old, she's likely going to feel insulted because she'll feel that you are calling her a baby. Girls around age 7 start to want more realistic toy makeup, not the blue-and-pink-plastic containers with bright red lipstick, etc. Even the nail polish bottles have babyish bows glued to them. This set SCREAMS preschooler. For context, half the women in our family don't wear makeup at all, and the others wear only a minimal amount, so we're not the kind of family that encourages makeup, and the kids don't see much makeup around the house or people putting on makeup. But even in our family, this set is still not appealing to any of our girls who are older than 6, because this particular kind of makeup is "for babies". I think it's the overload of blue and pink cheap-feeling plastic that makes the girls see it as babyish. It is a nice set, though -- for a very young little girl. I like the case, though. I'll probably keep the case for myself. No reason to let it get stained with broken bits of the toy makeup. The case it all comes in is a nice case for a little girl of any age, or even for an adult. I plan to use it to store some small Christmas items, since it has a snowflake on it. ... show more

My 6 year old daughter enjoyed looking through this and checking out all the individual stuff. It does have some cute blush powders and real makeup brushes. The little brush does work and the hair bow is cute. Her favorite was the press on nails! But just know the press on nails were more the size for a 9-11 yr old, but she just stuck them over the tip of her finger and had a blast. 😆 Of course, they came off quick because they were too big to start with. The nail polish is also not regular real polish, so it comes off east. The only negative I have on this is the eyeshadow palette has 3 glitter paste like colors and she went right for all those. I admit she dug into them instead of lightly swabbing the applicator. She applied the shadow and a little later we go to wash it off and she had glitter all over her face and in her scalp. I should have done those for her, but I noticed she had a couple little red pin point areas on her brow bones on both sides. I’m sure it was due to the glitter, but she never complained about about the area at all and when she woke up the little red spots were gone. She did use the blush, lip stick, and lip gloss and had no issues in those places. ... show more

This makeup set is absolutely great for my child. She loves carrying everything around in the bag. There is pretty much anything that you could imagine there would be in a make up kit. The make up does not feel like it is very high quality, but it is good for a costume play. I make sure to thoroughly remove the makeup after she is done playing. The nail polish does not last long on her nails, but I did not really expect much from it. The crown is also a bit thin but she’s careful with it so it has not become broken or shown any damage at all. This would be a very great gift set ... show more

This is very cute, and while not an official product, definitely Elsa inspired. There are measurements on the product page, but you have to look for them. There are no indications of size on the photos, so I was picturing this as bigger than it actually was. It is a bit smaller than a lunch box. The tiara comes flat and disassembled, so it's definitely not going back into the box, and age that this toy is aimed at may not have an easy time of getting everything to fit back in, even without the crown. The case, while small, is sparkly and adorable, and what makes this set worthwhile. Made in China. ... show more
