Features

  • Effective control over too much mouthpiece pressure. The system activates as soon as the mouthpiece is forced against the lips too hard. The air column escapes and interrupts your buzz, thus you know that you use high-pressure.
  • No spring, no mess with assembling and disassembling the device. We use magnets instead of the spring, whose functioning is based on the rejection.
  • A wider range of setup. Unlike devices with springs, providing only 5-6 position, the KGUBrass Optimizer provides you with a possibility to change the activation rate with each millimeter. You just need to turn it clockwise or counterclockwise to make the power of pressing stronger or smaller.
  • The efficient tool for practicing and classes. Our Optimizer is intended for using during a certain time, from 10 to 30 minutes, as much as you need. Note, its not intended for playing during concerts or all day long.
  • Useful for students, beginners, experienced trumpeters and brass players. The KGUBrass Optimizer is an effective tool, which helps to control how you take higher notes and effectively breaks the habit of an unintentional mouthpiece pressure on the lips.

  • It works!
It does what it’s meant to do, I’m feeling improvement. Could use some instructions and I’ll be adding some kind of markings to measure adjustments.

  • Finally, Less Mouthpiece Pressure!
Lately I feel like I have been using too much pressure when I’m playing my trumpet. It’s unfortunately been an easy bad habit to form. I recently received the ‘KGUBrass Optimizer’ in the mail and it’s proven to be a really helpful tool to help fix that problem. While there is no such thing as "no pressure", using too much pressure is definitely a thing! I started using the ‘KGUBrass Optimizer’ set on a very loose/week setting with my usual trumpet mouthpiece without the device inserted into my leadpipe. After doing a little buzzing using as little pressure as possible I tightened the setting on the device just a little bit. I then inserted it into my leadpipe and played some middle register exercises. I’ve found using the ‘KGUBrass Optimizer’ during my daily routine has made me more aware of using my air more efficiently versus resorting to mouthpiece pressure. It is really a fantastic tool to help players of all levels backoff and play the horn with less pressure. Thanks for introducing the ‘KGUBrass Optimizer’ to the market that can be used with any trumpet mouthpiece!! ... show more

  • IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENT
This is EVERYTHING that I expected and more!!! From initial use, self explanatory and easy to use. Not so easy to adapt, but THAT’S the point!! Thanks KGR for another great product out of the many that I’ve purchased from you in the past.

  • Great daily warm-up tool
I’ve been using the KGU Brass Optimizer every day for over two weeks and here’s my review. PRODUCT This is a very sturdy and well-made device; I have no doubt that it will last a long time. One thing to be aware of is that your mouthpiece is not secure and can fall out of you are not careful. USAGE The idea behind this product is that is teaches you to play without using too much pressure and I have to say it really does work. I use this this product as part of my daily warm-up routine. During my warm-up I play long tones from pedal F to third line C with this device and it sets a very good habit for the rest of my playing that day. This product is not meant to be played for a long period of time. With that, in my opinion, is not meant for playing normal trumpet music (solos, etudes etc.) or even trying to play too high on the device—it’s not about mastering using the device. The KGU Brass Optimizer is best used so you can get a sense of what it feels like to play without too much pressure and most importantly try to recreate this feeling in your normal approach to playing and in your upper register. In short, I highly recommend this device. It is a must have for any trumpet player who wants to cultivate a more comfortable and less pressure approach to play the trumpet. This device will forever be part of my daily warm-up. NOTE: It takes time to learn to use the device properly. Please be patient and remember you are learning a new habit/approach to trumpet. ... show more

  • Useless
This item is impossible to use and/or setup. This item came used and with visible marks. This item is overpriced by a lot. It should cost about $4.99. Although the idea behind it is good, it does not deliver what it promised at all. For a professional trumpet player - this is waist of time.

  • Quality second to none
Extremely well built! Manages the amount of pressure placed on your embouchure, which in my opinion allows you play longer, assists with intonation, helps support the quality of sound. Five Stars in my book!!

  • Innovative
Let me start by saying this product does exactly what it says it will. I used this for four days in a row and got my chops to burn. I guess I was relying on too much inward pressure. The design is very nice, and the use of magnets on the inside really lets you dial in the amount of pressure it will take before letting out air. There is one thing I would like to address. Due to the amount that this product sticks out of your lead pipe, it makes the horn play quite flat. They DO say it is for practice only, which I understand. However, and maybe it’s just me, even when I practice long tones or flow studies I like my horn to play the correct pitch. It is my philosophy that we should rely on my ears more than our eyes when playing music. This is a good product. I will still use it in my practice sessions if I feel my chops are starting to lose focus. ... show more

  • Incredible piece of kit!
This adaptor is fantastic for monitoring use of pressure which helps to build the correct muscles to keep the embouchure doing the work and protects the mouth from serious injuries. I've been using this to start all of my warm ups and practice sessions, and have used it to play through difficult range passages as well as technical studies. I've noticed that I feel more relaxed overall because I'm more aware of the pressure I'm using, and it shows in the endurance I've been building. The ONLY thing I wish this had is a better way to tell where the pressure setting is on the interior threads, or actual "points" or "notches" where you could twist to. Inevitably, when I pull it out of the MP receiver, I either tighten or loosen the pressure, so I can't start off again at the same place the next day. ... show more
