This my second purchase. I had a black one at first and decided to purchase a blue. This item is easy to use very durable. The size is compact but is functional.

  • Cheaper and Thinner, But Slower In Deploying Keys Than The Keyport Brand.
Color: Black
Addendum: So I'm adding a star to my review, here's why... My Keyport is about two (2) years old and my KeySmart is a year old. Keyports are plastic, and I just have experienced the longevity of Keyports. For those who don't know, Keyports work in this way: - Print a form from Keyport - Take pictures of your keys, upload to site, and order the blank keys - Take the keys to a key maker, and have the Keyport keys cut [Basically, you're making spares keys] - Then insert Keyport keys into the Keyport. Standard Keyport only holds six (6) keys. Advantages of Keyports: - Small as a 9v battery - Ideal for those who don't have/need to carry so many keys Disadvantages: - Extra steps to getting keys and leaving you with spare keys. - You pay a lot for the Keyport - You pay more for the specialized Keyport keys - You pay a specialized key maker to cut the Keyport keys - Plastic and breaks easy, which is what happened to me... All of these (dis)advantages are the reasons why I love the KeySmart brand better than the Keyport. And, one more awesome reason that I love it (Keysmart) is that they partnered with Tile to have an integrated KeySmart shaped Tile that is rechargeable and stays charged for 3-months. (Tile is a Bluetooth and community-based support system to help find stolen/misplaced/lost items.) Advantages of this KeySmart: - Just used the original keys - Silent - Compact - Price is cheaper - Metal (so it'll last longer) Disadvantages: - deploying the keys are slow, but practical ============ Original Review: August 30, 2016 - 3 out of 5 Stars The Keyport brand is still better in the deployment of the keys, but this thinner in carrying keys. I have this key my backup keys for guest and other rarely used function. The key holder itself is cheaper than the Keyport brand, and it doesn't requires you get special sized keys made for the holder--thus saving money. If I remember correctly, I had spent about $50 for an used Keyport holder and 5 keys (holds 6) (saving me about $25 buying it new). With this KeySmart holder, I just spent $20 for the holder (for the 2-10 keys holder). I don't see how with what it came with that I can hold anymore than 4 keys, and that is a tight fit. I will have to pay an additional $8-10 for the expansion pack to add more keys. Which is still cheaper than the KeyPort. I have forgotten my keys in my home clothes the next day changing into my work clothes because I carry a set keys for the house even when I'm home doing nothing, so having a second set of keys in a holder is convenient. In addition, I like consolidation and really don't like having too many keys, but what I do like is having a compact and silent set of keys and this is a great option. Three stars for: CONS - misleading number of keys that this holder can hold with just the basic purchase - deploying the keys are slow, but practical PROS - Thinner, - Cheaper, - With the expansion pack, you can hold a lot more keys than the Keyport brand. ... show more

  • Works great
Color: Black
Iv had this for many months now. Many reviews said this falls apart but maybe those people dont pay attention to their keys. Yes, it will loosen a bit and so spin the keys open over a course of a few days, is it something that will just explode open? No. It becomes easier to move the keys as it gets looser, all you do is notice it, and barely spin the screw tighter and its resolved in a few seconds if even that long.. ITs not a problem, its just physics, as you spin keys open it loosens over time, youll notice and you can use your nail to spin the nut or just a coin and it tightens up, not a big deal, think about shoe laces, you need to retie them all the time right? you need to lock a door every time right? So what's the big deal with slightly turning the nut and tightening this up like once every 2 weeks. It wasnt hard to put together either, just organize your keys and have it set up. I did have some keys facing opposite directions and had to open it up and do it again, didn't take long, just sit down relax, watch some tv and do it . Dont be deterred, this has made my everyday carry awesome. I also have one of those ridge wallet type of wallets, these two items have made my pockets way less bulky and nothing is loosely hanging around in there anymore, what a convenience, it is also made of metal and sturdy. I got the black one, its looking good. ... show more

  • KeySmart Wins, Negative Reviews Lose
Color: Black
Please read if you're unsure about this product. The negative reviews are misleading. First impressions based on reviews vs. actually having the product: this is super easy to setup. I'm not sure why people claim otherwise. Secondly, don't get the Flex model, apparently it's plastic and breaks easily. It might be tempting because it's $10 and if you're like me, that's a suitable price you'd pay for this product. The one I got, the Compact model for $20, is steel (or titanium, not sure, read product description) and won't break easily - it's worth the extra $10. Third, the KeySmart Compact serves its purpose. Although a bit steep in price for my liking, my 5 keys don't jingle around or get stuck through each other's rings when I hook the clip to my jeans now. Now I have the KeySmart, a tiny flashlight (Lumintop EDC01, highly recommend for anyone), my car key fob and a contactless surface tool all on my infini-key ring. The KeySmart also makes it easier to locate each key. I have 3 on one side, my house keys, and 2 on the other side, my work keys. I fit 5 keys here, plus the little dongle included, comfortably. Yes, the little square hook you see connected to a ring on my keys is optionally placed inside the KeySmart. So the instructions say you can fit 6 keys, or 5 keys plus the included. dongle. The package included expanders, which I used, however if you want to expand again for more than 6 keys, I believe you have to purchase additional expander packs. If you have more than 6 keys, buy 1-2 expander packs to avoid wasting time. You can always return them later or keep them in case you get more keys to add. I can't comment on the durability of this product when you have 8+ keys, which may be the reason others complained, but again a lot of them complained about the plastic Flex model. There are plenty of instructional videos online, including KeySmart's own video. However once I started assembling, it took me less than 3 minutes. The only thing you need that's not included is a flat head screwdriver, any size will do. This is simply to unscrew the screws to disassemble the KeySmart so you can add your keys, and then tighten it back up. If you tighten it and find that it's hard to take your key(s) out for practical use, loosen the screws a little. Overall I'm happy with the purchase, it's convenient, it's aesthetically pleasing, it's durable, it's practical and it just makes sense. My only qualm was the $20 price point for such a small thing, but honestly it was worth it. I'm not writing this review for any reason other than to discount the negative reviews I saw on KeySmart which almost led me to not buying it. Good luck with yours if you decide to buy. ... show more
