  • Solid keyboard
Color: Gateron Brown Switch
This is an excellent keyboard that feels super solid and well built. The keys are nice and clicky but not too loud, and the different ways to connect wired or wirelessly all work really well. It’s a bit expensive but it’s a great keyboard.

  • Great mechanical keyboard for Macs
Color: Gateron Brown Switch
I am using this on my Macbook Pro and it's fantastic! It has a satisfying feeling as I press down the keys and it's not too loud. The function keys at top automatically do Mac functions which is convenient so we don't need to push down the fn key.

  • Great keyboard and Recommendations to make it a Perfect keyboard
Color: Gateron Red Switch
I'm EXTREMELY picky about keyboards. I have more than 50 of them. I know.. it's an obsession. I travel and I type alot. My needs for this keyboard, particularly, is that I wanted a keyboard compact enough to be able to slide in my backpack but still have mechanical keys and a number pad, which is essential for what I do. I also wanted to have bluetooth, or at least a detachable cord most keyboards have a permanently attached cord making it cumbersome to travel with. In order to pack all those features in one keyboard, I realized that concessions had to be made, but I didn't want any concessions to impact my ability to TYPE. Meaning, I needed a full sized keyboard and high quality keys. This is really the first keyboard that met all my requirements in a keboard. Full size with number pad, yet compact. Bluetooth with removable chord and quality build and keystrokes. So... what did I have to give up? First, I had to concede to a thicker keyboard. In order to accommodate a backlit and bluetooth mechanical keyboard, the manufacturer needed to add some weight and thickness to amp up the battery to give it the juice to perform. This affects its compactness to a degree as well as typing comfort for some, albeit for me it doesn't impact my comfort or ability to type. Second, I had to concede to a keyboard that goes to sleep after a few minutes and I have to be patient while it wakes back up, as well as deal with some occasional Bluetooth lag. Third, I had to concede cursor keys (Which I rarely use anyway) that are a little tight and a "0" on the number-pad downsized to a regular key instead of an oversized thumb key. Fourth, I had to pay $104 for all those features. So... I'm pretty happy about my purchase, but here is what I think (at least for me) would make this a better keyboard. 1. I would either make the keyboard sleep user-defined through an app, or I would scrap Bluetooth altogether. By far, my biggest complaint is how quickly this keyboard sleeps. I have a business and I am reviewing invoices and documents and then entering and updating information as needed. 90% of the time, when I'm ready to engage my keyboard, it has gone to sleep. It's not worth it. This needs to be user definable based on need, or simply done away with. It isn't usable in its current state. As such, I always leave it plugged in when I work. I DO love the fact that it uses a detachable USB-C which makes it easy to connect to my laptop for power and data. 2. If Bluetooth is scrapped, I would build a really slimline version of this. Take out the battery, remove the Bluetooth and skinny this keyboard up by a half inch or more by adding half-depth keys. That would be an extremely comfortable keyboard, light and compact, while only sacrificing Bluetooth, which really doesn't work effectively anyway. 3. I would bring back the big 0 thumbkey on the number pad. I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to accomplish this; maybe lose the "control" button and build that function in elsewhere, maybe. But for people who need a tenkey, we NEED a tenkey. We are entering data, and to constantly look at the keyboard to make sure I'm hitting a diminutive "0" key (the most commonly pressed key in data entry), it's too distracting. If the company make bluetooth sleep function user-selectable and remapped the keys to accommodate a bigger 0 numpad key, I would be very happy. OR If the company made a model that scrapped Bluetooth altogether, and made this a really slim beast by removing the battery and building half-high keys, AND remapped the numkey (see above) I would be equally blissfully happy. In fact I would probably buy them both and give them both 5 star reviews. Aside from those issues, for a compact keyboard with mechanical keys and a number pad, this keyboard really delivers. ... show more

  • A great compact keyboard!
Color: Gateron Red Switch
I was looking for a mechanical compact keyboard for work that still had a number pad. This is a great option that is compatible with my work's locked down virtual desktops. Works great in wired mode. Love the compact form factor while keeping the number pad. Although, the compact layout does take some getting used to - especially the "zero" key on the number pad. Love the keys and switches. Light modes are nice, and easy to toggle using keyboard shortcuts without having to install any sort of software. I wish the mode switch toggle on the side of the keyboard was a bit larger and easier to reach without looking at. Overall, a very solid option. ... show more

  • Good but far from perfect.
Quality of Build: Very skookum construction. But that solid build comes at a cost, namely the thickness and weight of the entire unit itself. As others have pointed out in reviews and pictures, its lowest key cap height is relatively high due to the frame bulge of internal components protruding from the bottom. This will easily require most people to consider a well thought out wrist rest for any extended use. The bezel surrounding the keyboard is also a tad thick, though its quality matches the rest of the grade-A chassis. I almost wouldn't have minded a more exposed design where the bezel doesn't come up above the bottoms of the key caps as much, so as to assist in easier air blow cleaning without removing key caps until absolutely necessary. LED Backlight: The backlighting is sufficient though I am really bummed that no dedicated light toggle of any sort was designed for the Num Lock keys. A firmware update introduced a very welcome Caps Lock backlit indicator, but this was not done for the Num Lock for some reason. I can only assume that's because they linked the Clear operation as a second function to the Num Lock key. So I'm currently hoping for this introduction via a firmware update as well. RGB Feature: I'm not a big RGB fan but I do like having that option when it can improve visibility and other practical aspects. I opted for the RGB over the white LED lest the white LED backlight would be too bright or piercing. The RGB patterns and light shows go way beyond anything I'd use and the 8 static color options are adequate, with a 9th containing a static rainbow mixture. Documentation: For having such a clean and well-laid out website, they sure do flop somewhat in the documentation department. Inconsistent in important aspects, such as only partial lists and availability of function key combos for certain KeyChron product lines and not others. Often the best resource for more complete how-tos is to be found provided by 3rd parties. For example finding the Insert function or a usable Print Screen function was only available in the notes of a firmware update rather than an exhaustive list where the firmware update could be mentioned in passing for the applicable functions. Also, the key responsible for "capture screen" shown in the included manual does not correspond to any key on my K4 keyboard, though there is a firmware update that provides a print screen ability to the Page Up key. But this updated function is not intuitive at all. In order to use print screen you must Hold fn + p + page up for 6 seconds to replace the page up key function to screenshot/print screen function. This step must be repeated to return the key function to Page Up functionality. That's not a huge issue, but is more of a joke on a coder who might use both print screen and Page Up relatively often. Many updated functions operate like this where fn + (key) + (key) for 6 seconds is required—without easy access to an exhaustive list of functions to boot. Instilled Confidence: While the product and website quality has a high feel and function, there is a weaker confidence exuded in other areas. For example, their firmware site for the K4 has a version 1.1 and 1.3, but no 1.2. That alone is not an issue, except that while updating to 1.3 the software clearly displayed "1.2" in the progress window. That made me a tad bit nervous considering the warnings on their site and in reviews about breaking/bricking the keyboard due to issues updating the firmware. That experience did not instill great confidence. That being said, the firmware update was a straight forward single click experience and successfully completed in a timely manner (although the final message stating "Update Successfully" again has a non-native-English speaking touch that makes me wish it instead gave a more confident "Update Successful" or even "Updated Successfully", so as to communicate a completed status or action rather than what sounds like a command to successfully update, which I thought I had already just done—but now I'm just nitpicking). All in all, this a good keyboard with some minor quirks that can be overlooked by most people in most circumstances. ... show more
