I figured that for such a low price this curtain rod wouldn't be the strongest thing on earth, and I was right, but thankfully it still manages to hold up my curtain well enough. It was easy to install, but the plastic bit that seems to be meant to keep the two halves firmly connected came loose instantly and cannot be put back in place. The picture of my “end result” pretty much sums up how I feel about this shower rod. I’m glad to read that it took others about 15 million years to take the plastic shrink wrap off, and it’s not just me. After I managed to finally get it off after about 15 minutes with the assistance of a knife and without stabbing myself in the eye, I then discovered that the info paper wrapped around the rod and taped to it doesn’t just slide off when un-taped, the whole paper is glue-melded to the rod and I had to run it under hot water and spend another 5 minutes scrubbing that off. Okay, so now I have it unwrapped and clean and it’s time to put it up in the bathroom. It’s metal and feels sturdy, so I’m happy at this point. I’m adjusting the tension when about midway through adjusting it to the proper length, the twist function locks up. It was twisting as expected then suddenly it won’t move. The rod is now locked at a too-short length and there’s nothing I can do to release it. I put on my super-grip gloves and twist with no result. I finally get a pipe wrench for even more torque and all it does is scratch its way around the rod. Finally, as a last resort, I bang it on the concrete, hoping to loosen up whatever locked in there. This results in the rod bending at the weak point where the wrench had scraped it (I may have been a bit frustrated as well lol). So basically I then just finished the job and folded it in half so it will fit directly into my trash barrel. Off to a big box store for something I can actually use. ... show more

    • how to adjust tension? Challenging packaging/label and, seemingly, no tension

poorly packaged, shrink wrapping was difficult to remove, peeled off in half inch strips... there is a label I can't remove... I turned it to the back of the shower. The wrapping took far too long to peel off a piece at a time but, it had torn so the rod slid out in the box... difficult to tell if the slight scratches on it were manufactured or from the lack of protection in the shipping box. you can twist the rod out to be longer than the distance from wall to wall but there is no "tension" effect that allows me to compress the rod to put it in place so it will have sufficient tension, I tried twisting it in place, the instructions are confusing, that didn't work either It works for me because I purchased it to hold the shower caddy and items hand washed allowed to drip in the shower and the rod rests on the top of the formed shower. for that purpose it is attractive and serves the purpose but, I'd recommend the HabiLife shower curtain rod I purchased for the layered fabric curtain, more expensive but far better quality and, tension worked well, easy to install ... show more

The rod is easy to setup and tighten and curtains slide smoothly. I've had several different long rods, each of which were difficult to get to the right length and lock in and curtains didn't slide smoothly. This rod is great - it's the 2nd one I've purchased. This time around though I felt it necessary to vent a bit about the packaging. It comes shrink wrapped end to end with a "crispy" plastic that simply will NOT tear off. Takes about 10 minutes to cut and get it all off. And the paper label they tape inside has what looks like regular tape tabs to hold it in place - only to find that after you get it off it leaves a 5 inch long stickly mat all the way around the rod for 5 inches that you have to soak off with goo gone or alcohol. Simply the worst packaging of any product I've ever bought. There,,, I vented. Good rod though. ... show more
