  • Could Be Awesome But....
Size: 510-17
Installed on rear 2017 KLR650 with Dunlop K750 on front. Tire is excellent in almost all aspects except one. I am replacing it after 1000 miles though it still has 80-90% tread left, and wanted it off after 10 miles. I replaced a Shinko 244 with this tire. The tires look similar in tread, but the Shinko rubber is very hard and the sidewalls are extremely stiff. That makes it stable on the highway, but a little bit slippery in rain, very, very loud and causes more vibration . The Kenda, on other hand, has very soft rubber and is very quiet on the road for an aggressive tire. It feels as smooth as a street tire and causes no vibration. The traction is good (does not break loose) but rear wiggles a lot and when cornering at modest speed sort of feels loose. I ride a lot in the dirt so that does not bother me and sort of feels fun, but may be frightening if you only ride street or are a new rider. Off roar this in an excellent tire on anything - even deep mud, but I live in the NC sandhills and even the mud has a lot of sand in it and slings out of the tread with a little gas. The treads are deep and closer together than a full knobby so it might be a problem in gooey sticky mud, but I do not have that here. The only real problem for this tire for me is that at 70 mph and above the tire is not stiff enough side to side to keep the back end tracking straight. It starts to wiggle side to side like a dog wagging its tail. It is enough to cause the front end to wobble if you even touch the handle bars, and really bounce around in high speed curves. It also drags the bike all over the road in crosswinds. I put the old Shinko 244 back on, also an old Dunlop K750, and now a Shinko 700 and no wobbling problems at any speed the bike will run - so I attribute it solely to the Kenda not being a good match for this bike and my driving needs. If I never intended to drive over 65 mph I would probably run this tire on my KLR650 exclusively. It is a super value. It is cheap and will last a long time on the highway and still give you a lot of off road capability. I own a much lighter and slower KLX250S on which I run DOT knobbies for off road, but I have to put in a lot of road miles to get to the trails and burn up rears pretty fast. If cost of tires became more important, I would consider using a Kenda K270 on the rear of that bike. It would do everything I need, but the bike weighs only 270 lbs and will only go about 70 mph max. ... show more

  • Dont overload on a KLR
Size: 510-17
My experience with this tire so far has been limited but scary. With a loaded KLR, on pavement, this tire has been borderline dangerous on the highway. The bike wanders at 55mph and if you need to swerve rather ubruptly, it's a feightenining experience. Perhaps I overloaded the bike, I'm not sure. With no load on the bike, the tire does not feel as squirrely. After a few hundred miles, the tire felt better on pavement. Offroad and gravel, the tire performed as expected. Good value but consider spending a few more dollars to get something else. ... show more

  • Bad Tire for Old Asphalt
Size: 460-17
I hate hate hate this tire. I replaced an old worn out 270 with this new one and it scares the sh** out of me. Squirrely as all get out on imperfect pavement. Old asphalt - feels like I'm trying to ride on ice. New asphault - feels fine. Dirt and gravel - normal. We have a lot of 20 year old, what I disgustingly refer to as "exposed aggregate asphalt", and I can't tell if my tire went flat or if I'm just fish tailing for fun. It's bad. Real bad. Having had a blowout in the past, it gives me the willies ... show more

  • too much lateral runout
Size: 3.25-21
tire is only good for 45 MPH or less. Professionally mounted. Straight rim, new tube and rim band. When you spin tire in motorcycle lift it has not only side shift it appears to be out of round. I did not contact seller or try to return. Too much trouble. I'll order another brand of tire and hope there are on further issues. BTW its mounted on my vintage 1975 Yamaha DT 400 ... show more
