I have 5 of these. I recently bought one on a flash sale for under $20 and replaced a 15 yr old reel that was starting to show some age. I was VERY impressed with the quality and smoothness of the reel for the price. I ended up buying 4 more and replacing all my kids and wife's reels with these. If there was one drawback it would be that it seems like 2 out of the 5 have major issues with backlash and birds nests. Not sure why. I use the same line on all of them and we all basically use the same lures/bait. Just seems like 2 of them experience more line twist and things than the other two. And one last thing. Try not to get them wet. I don't think the inside is greased or sealed as good as others. My daughter dropped hers in the river and 2 days later the bearings show signs of rust and the reel started feeling like there was sand it in when reeling. The good news is I told the company about it and they sent me another one as a courtesy. ... show more

Came back to add comments four yrs later. Great reel. Still works great. I like this better than Megatron for twice the price. I'm not sure why I'd buy a reel over 100 when this is so cheap. I fish lake St Clair, Erie and Cumberland for bass. Love it.

First Casking reel I have purchased and am impressed. Smooth action and good feel. The last reel I bought from this country of origin did not load the line on the spool evenly which led to wind knots and frustration. This reel loads line perfectly and is working great. Only flaw I have found is one crack in the finish on an edge, but likely won’t be a problem. Crank arm feels very secure and solid despite the fact it releases and swings out of the way with a push of a button. Very happy with the product! ... show more

This reel is really nice. I put 4lb line and a 7' ultralight rod and it reels real smooth. I bought a second one for a smaller ultralight rod. For the price I might upgrade all my reels with these.

It's amazing how today's technology can turn up fishing reels that would cost a fortune in the 1990's and '80's. This KastKing Centron Lite's build quality is on par with reels 30 years ago that costs hundreds of dollars. This reel is extremely smooth. The rotor and spool are balanced, so there is no wobble or vibration. Well, actually there is minimal mechanical vibration, but it's balanced. When you engage the bail by cranking forward, it requires minimal force, and there is NO play if you crank backwards. Amazing. Even more amazing is it costs only twenty American dollars. I love ultralight fishing, and I bought this as a backup to my 2lb. rod & reel. This one will hold 4lb. line and I think I'll get a new fishing rod. Okay, so this was originally a review for the Centron 500, but I purchased the Centron 3000 after experiencing the impressive performance of the 500. With 12lb braid this reel casts and reels very well with no binding. A month in, this reel really couldn't be better, and I consider it an excellent value. I've caught many bass on it. It doesn't twist the line in regular use which I appreciate. I flip the bail manually each cast, and watch for line not laying as it should. It's almost trouble free and I'd buy it again. Update: after a 3 months this reel continues to perform well. The bail doesn't twist the line. Few wind knots but I flip the bail manually and watch for loops like a hawk. I bought a 4000 (black, not "Lite") and it was too big and heavy, so I returned it and bought another 3000 (black, not "Lite") which is a good size for shaky head, wacky worm, t-rig etc. I have several baitcasters and spinning reels and have fished since the 1970s. These are good spinning reels. ... show more
