Off the bat, noticed they were of a very sturdy material. There was extra adapters to make sure they fit properly into the sides of the bars, as well as extra sizes for the mount towards the center of the bar. The flags themselves were a bit loose when i got them, also a bit flimsy but not too too bad. The high quality of the metal material used outweighs the flimsy flags. Very secure overall. Took a bit of extra time to get them even, but hey thats what you get for buying a universal kit. There is a good amount of modularity and different angles you can install them in. For the price, these are hard to beat. Ive had other bikes with name brand bark busters that felt cheaper made than the jfg ones. Took it on a local trail, over jumps, wheelies, you name it. Havent budged a bit. Few branches smacked em, no cracks in the flags and did the job protecting my hands. Granted havent been down with them, but do trust that they will keep their form and protect my levers/hands. Only small complaint I have with them was there was a small gap inbetween where the bars are, and the inserts. Would have prefered them to be completely flush, but not that big of a deal to me. Granted could be user error. Lol. I do run shorty levers. Could see some people having some fitment issues with full levers (can always slide them in though) ... show more

I bought 2 sets of these and put them on 2 different bikes. The aluminum bar that goes from the bar end to the inside of the bars is plenty sturdy, but didn't even come close to fitting either of my bikes. I had to use a vice and a large wrench to bend and shape both of them. Then, after tightening all bolts as tight as I could without stripping out, the guards still like to flop around a little. I even loctited all bolts. On my first crash with these on, the flimsy plastic that makes up the front shield broke, and there doesn't appear to be anywhere to buy a replacement. Now I have to either live with a broken guard or buy a new set. ... show more

They seem pretty good but are mounted a little iffy on my v strom 1000 as they aren't very adjustable. They're probably safer than the plastic stock wind gaurds but they don't really offer much wind protection unlike the plastic stock ones did.

Decent bark busters, but awful hardware. I ended up getting them installed but all the threads needed to be cleaned and chased. Some pieces came completely unusable. Full of so much chowda, chips, and shavings this would have been a good bargain if I was shopping for a nice seafood dinner.
