They have a lifetime warranty and will replace it if anything starts to come apart on it. I wish I would have known that prior to throwing my older one away! I had to machine wash the previous one, that was identical to this one, a couple of times due to food spillage and it started to come apart at the seams in one place. It didn't hold up being washed in the washing machine too well but because of the lifetime warranty I will continue to buy JanSport. The backpack doesn't feel cheap or unoriginal, it's exactly what was pictured. There is one pocket in the front and one opening in the center/back for books and such, its honestly a simple backpack, but its exactly what I was looking for! I bought this mostly for the transportation of my laptop to and from school, and it works perfectly. My laptop is 13inches and it has more then enough room height and width wise. Also, I am a smaller person, fairly petite, and this backpack doesn't make me feel like I'm carrying an elephant on my back. It's a good size! Very pleased with this purchase! xx ... show more

The strap adjustments suck and I always feel like one side is looser than the other and it's too much if a hassle to fix. Zippers are a bit rough to handle, but that's most backpacks as well. Made with a durable canvas type material that ages and fades well over the years. Good looking and nice simple design, great for school and stuff but I would not reccomend for things like hiking or backpacking. ... show more

This is the only backpack allowed in New York City, where I live. Or maybe it's just the only one most folks use because it's an unobtrusive workhorse that lasts and lasts and outlasts the backpacks costing six times as much. I understand it's available and worn in other colors besides black, but, hey, in New York, not so much. Take it to work, take it to school, take it to the local deli for some groceries. These backpacks are solid. You can run down the street, jump the wall behind mcdonalds, catch up to the bus, and make your bus in time for class. Just make sure you get a sleeve if you have a laptop - no padding means no safety for your MacBook - a lesson I learned the hard way 4 years ago when I dropped my backpack with a 13" retina MacBook Pro (the first retina model that was thin and had weaker chasis). ... show more
