I really went back and forth on this one but I’m so glad I finally purchased (forever red). First thing I did was put it on before eating dinner at home. After dinner lips are still tinted. The gloss is gone but color remains. I plan to wear this as a base under every day chapstick or clear gloss. Feels amazing going on, smooth and chapstick like. The color, forever red, is a natural red, not true red carpet red. It has a slight warm orange tone which works great for my complexion. Looks very natural and looks just like the color in the picture. I notice the glossy formula can easily spread past the lip edges, be careful rubbing lips together too much after application. This is a very small amount of product for the price. It looks like nothing and was pretty disappointing out of the box. However it has a stronger than expected pigment so I'm more than satisfied with it. You use such a tiny amount it will go a long way.

I only wear mascara. I don't find lipstick looks right on me. But I keep wanting to wear it. I came across this and I read several reviews first before buying it. I must say, I'm impressed and I wear this every time I go out. It's subtle but adds a pretty color to my lips. I feel stunning when I wear it. It "stains" your lips but not as bad as you could imagine. And the Forever Red, isn't that red which I was super pleased about. Again it's a subtle red. My lips are typically dry and as a result I don’t wear much lipstick. This lip stain is fantastic! It’s moisturizing and leaves color on my lips even if I have to apply a layer of lip balm later in the day. It’s also sheer but adds enough color to look pretty but natural.

UPDATE: I am still happy with my red shade of the Jane Iredale tinted lip balm, and would have loved, as stated in my review, to purchase the peach shade, as well as replace the red as necessary. However, I just noticed that the price has leapt from $17-- already a hefty price for a lip balm--to a whopping $32. That is nearly double the most recent price! As much as I have enjoyed the balm, which I often keep in my skirt pocket for quick access, I don't want prospective customers to read my review under the impression that I was willing, far less able, to pay such a price for the quality. I had already been feeling more than a little guilty for paying what I did. If you are in a position to toss out $32 for a lip balm, more power to you--read on for a fair, honest, and favorable review, that I hope serves as useful in your decision. However, do note that I paid just a little more than half of the current price, and in no circumstances would I consider this product to be worth $32 (nor do I believe the company to be acting fairly--or from necessity--in initiating such a hike in price). So worth the extra money for a non-greasy balm that gives my lips and cheeks that perfect flush of sheer color. I tried the red, which as others have pointed out, is less red and more coral in tone. This shade isn't phony and bright; it is a natural-looking color that can be built up slightly--by half a shade, say. I find the formula to glide on softly and my lips stay moisturized all day with just a couple of applications. I will definitely try the orange one next, but for now am happy to let this balm take over my minimal makeup regime: A little eyebrow definition, then a bit of this sheer color on the lips and apples of my cheeks.
