I recently purchased the IRIS USA 144 Qt./36 Gal. Plastic Storage Container Bin in a set of 3, and while the size of these containers is precisely what I needed for my organizing needs, I have some concerns with the lid design. Let's start with the positives. The 144 Qt./36 Gal. size of these containers is perfect for storing large and bulky items, making them an excellent choice for organizing my garage and sports equipment. The stackable and nestable design is a space-saver, and I appreciate how neatly they fit together when not in use. The durability of the plastic is commendable, providing confidence that my belongings are well-protected within these containers. The containers themselves are sturdy and hold up well to regular use. However, my main issue lies with the lids and their latching mechanism. Despite the secure lid and latching buckles claim, I found that the lids do not lock in place as securely as I expected. They have a tendency to pop off easily when lifted, which can be frustrating and inconvenient, especially if you need to move the container frequently. Another downside is the lack of a comfortable grip area on the lids. The raised edges are minimal, leaving little room for gripping, particularly if you have long nails. Trying to lift the container using just your fingertips can be challenging and uncomfortable. While I appreciate the size and durability of these storage containers, the issues with the lids' locking and grip design are significant drawbacks. I've had instances where the lid unexpectedly popped open when carrying the container, causing some items to spill out. This is a concern, especially when handling fragile or valuable items. In conclusion, the IRIS USA 144 Qt./36 Gal. Plastic Storage Container Bins are a decent choice if you need spacious and durable storage solutions. The totes themselves are on par with others like them, but the packaging was very poor especially considering how expensive these were and how much they must cost to ship/return. Three very large 30x20x17" totes nested with lids in a relatively light duty box with absolutely no padding or cardboard inserts to prevent them from banging around. The shipping box was the original one provided by the manufacturer and marked "fragile", but that doesn't accomplish much. A box this size should also have handhold cutouts for proper carrying to prevent rough handling. The box itself wasn't actually damaged much, just one edge a bit pushed in. All three totes were undamaged, but all three lids had cracks and broken off bits to varying degrees. I didn't plan to use the lids, so I won't be returning them. I hated spending this much for plastic totes, but I had a specific use for them and couldn't find any that met my requirements locally. I'd read the reviews and went into it expecting they might be damaged, but rolled the dice anyways. Probably could have saved some money buying used returns, but the descriptions don't indicate what exactly is wrong with them. My specific use for these... litter boxes... for three high peeing cats who don't always get along. I did some research and read info from a cat behaviorist about litter boxes and realized my current boxes were woefully undersized for my cats, as were most of the ones on the market. All the boxes meant for high peeing kitties weren't anywhere near high enough for mine, had seams that leaked, and covered boxes in general are not good for them. My requirements were for tall clear totes that are right about this 30x20x17in. "goldilocks" size that did not have any indentations or bump outs inside that would make scooping and cleaning more difficult. Day one of setup and all three cats are pretty much exclusively using the new boxes and seem to really love them. I didn't even have to cut an entry door in the boxes yet since all three seem happy to jump over the sides so far. I did put a shorter box next them that they can use if desired. I could have gotten much cheaper low-sided totes and jerry-rigged tall pee guards all around them, but I've been there and done that and found it frustrating. Can't speak to the non-litterbox uses of these. :) Thought this might be helpful to other people with high-peeing cats. These boxes were recommended several places online for this use, but none of the reviews here had mentioned it so far. ... show more

Purchased to store extra bedding, etc when out of state company visits. They are large enough to hold 5 pillows in one tote, blankets, and bedding in the others. The have locking tops to get dust, etc out.

So I’m not one to leave a review on anything unless it’s a positive review but this has me a little frustrated. I ordered 5 sets of these. 4 comes in a set so a total of 20 totes which for the price isn’t terrible at all but when 18 out of 20 totes comes cracked, broke or damaged in some way, it’s time to think about a safer, more proper way to pack and ship your products. Bubble wrap, stuffing…something during transit is better then nothing. The box even says fragile on it and still, 18 of the 20 came damaged. I will say that the totes themselves are decent, do the job and they are thicker then I expected so that’s an upside. All came with lids that latch shut on both side as well. All I’m saying is for buying 20 totes, y’all need to come up with a better solution to where customers products aren’t getting damaged along the way. Thanks. :) ... show more

I love the size of these containers, but my 1st shipment had three containers broken…so I returned. My second shipment still has one container broken. Apparently, these don’t ship well!
