We wanted a good quality, stylish and smaller sized BarcaLounger styled chair to fit within our mother’s assisted living residence that was easy for her to use and comfortable so that she could rest while enjoying a book or watching television, and safely fall asleep in the chair without concern for her safety (falling). The Blue Chenille fabric option was the perfect choice for our elderly mother. In addition, the technical features of the lounge chair—recline position with legs and feet up, and especially the forward-tilt feature for mom to be able to go from chair to walker—we’re huge selling features!!!! It even had massage features which we have yet to access. She loves it! We do too, as it is very comfortable for any family member to pay a visit with mom. The only downside is the manufacturer opted to ship using FedEx, and they shipped the chair in two separate boxes, so we had to wait another week until the second box was delivered as supposedly FedEx lost the second shipment. Customer service was excellent and helped resolve the issue satisfactorily. I received a response right away and felt like there was an actual human helping me. I urged them to use UPS shipping instead as they seemed to have had similar issues with FedEx. After looking around and calling DME providers I settled on this chair in grey chanile. Great packaging in 2 boxes. Pretty simple set up, I have muscular dystrophy so easy things are hard. This was simple. The connections are clearly marked. It helps me tremendously! The motor for raising is a little slow but I understand why, I'm that guy that likes speed. A friend said airbags would solve that issue!! Anyway, comfy chair, quality built, great price. Can't go wrong! ... show more

03.09.2024 I have been ordering thousands of items from amazon for 25 years and have spent thousands of dollars (I know, I wished I have saved most of it). I have given many reviews, good and awful over the years. Some amazing products and some not worth the box they came in. This Irene House 9188ET Big Tall Man Lay Flat Recliner is at the Top of the "best of the best" that I have ever ordered. From the shipping, packaging, assembling, customer service. It took about 5 days to get this. I am 6ft and 225 Lb man, 63 years old army veteran and live alone. When I first got these 3 boxes delivered by FedEx, the guy brought the heaviest up the steps for me and he did not have too. The doorway is 32.5" wide. I noticed the model number on the box was different than what I ordered. I called Irene House, and, in a few seconds, I talked to a nice lady who said, "I understand" and we have told the manufacture about this. She assured me that what was inside the box is what I ordered, and she was right. When I was putting it together, I noticed I did not have the transformer. I called her back, and in a few seconds, she answered, and she said, "I am sending you one now". In a moment later I found the transformer under the sofa, I did not know I kicked it under there. I called her back, and, in a moment, she answered, and I told her I found it and she said "great". I could not figure out how to attach the footrest extension, so I called her back and she text me videos of how to attach it. It was like she was in the same room as me. I have the most perfect chair now. I wanted something that will grow old with me. I do not need the lift right now, but in years or so, I might. The chenille beige is so soft and beautiful. The heat and massage are a bonus for me. It fits me perfect. My feet do not hang over at all, plenty of room. It is like I am in bed when I lay it flat. Now if I ever need to move into an assisted living, I have my perfect chair, perfect bed, and perfect Irene House service. I LOVE IT!!! ... show more

I wanted a smaller recliner, and this is the perfect size for a 5'3" lady. The color is beautiful (a light cool beige). The upholstery fabric is soft, quite sturdy, and cleans easily (this has not been tested on any real dirt but just a small spill). Mechanics work fine, no problems. Only small complaint is that the seat could be a little more padded, a little more comfortable for long term TV and reading. I see some complaints about the space made when reclined way back (maybe for people who want to sleep in it??). This is not an issue for me. For the money, great chair. I hope it continues to serve me well for year's...time will tell. ... show more

I looked at all the lift chairs on Amazon and the deciding factor on purchasing this one was all the positive reviews on this Irene House brand. There were just too many negative reviews for the other brands. I'm very glad I purchased this chair it is better in person than the pictures and I thought the pictures were fine. It is very comfortable and beautiful. I got the red and it is a very pretty wine red not burgandy and not bright red. Everthing was easy to assemble, took all of 15 mins. and all works perfectly. This is a heavy chair over 100 lbs. so you may need help getting it out of the box (the seat part). It is in 4 parts and easy to assemble but the seat part is heavy. Had some trouble with the delivery by Fed Ex, but the Customer Service on this chair was excellent. Everything was packed well with no missing parts. The box with the base is very heavy, but my daughter rolled the carton end over end into my house from my garage. We never thought to do that, (worked smarter, not harder). The motors are very quiet and the quality is better than I expected. The pictures in the instructions could be improved, but it's not really hard to put together. Very comfortable. I purchased it because of a future surgery which will require me to sleep on my back for a week or so, so I'm very glad to have this chair. ... show more
