Top Amazon Reviews

  • The compact is my second IQ room filter - I highly recommend
I will be recommending this filter because I found them to be highly effective at filtering allergens out of the air as well as removing smells of a new home after I had one built. That said, there are also flaws with the device and considering I purchased my first one in 2012 (confirmed date on Amazon), very little change in the machines design and so any reviews of flaws are still likely in place, as well as benefits. Why I recommend this over the other IQ charcoal version: The charcoal filter works, but the charcoal filter has issues. It also costs $100 more to have that filter and issue. After a couple weeks or a month, the charcoal filter will start to stink in a sickly-sweet sort of way. Before that it'll do a great job getting scents out of the air, but because of that I recommend this version for air quality that isn't gas related (VOCS). Why I recommend in general: Filters well and for a long period of time. They have all the stats you can review including CFM instead of square foot ratings inferior air filters will use. Powerful and rapid air circulation. The large rooms I have them in cycle through the air 6-10 times over an hour. My last version with the charcoal filter is still going strong 10 years later. This one doesn't use the charcoal filter, and as the charcoal filter has flaws, this one is my preference based on my normal needs. Cons The filters have a long life, but when it's time to purchase, they're expensive. I've done substitutes but they don't last as long and haven't been as good. So, plan for filters accordingly. The long life helps offset the cost if you plan well or don't care about spending money. The wheels/caster system sucks and I may have already broken one AGAIN. Both times I've broken one the day of set-up. The casters don't lock on and so the attachment is made through gravity. Lift... they fall off. Additionally, the pegs to the casters are flimsy and break easily. I don't recommend a lot of weight on the machines if you like to turn things into tabletops or have loved ones who do so, don't. And don't sit on them!!! I hate this so much and I hate that it's still an issue ten years later. Lazy design. Getting to the filters is a bit of a pain. The sides snap apart and I'm always concerned the mechanisms will break. After 10 years with 8+ various filter changes, I think this is unlikely to happen but I'm as gentle as possible while forcing things apart and back together. Not user friendly to change the things out. Resetting the filter lights can be challenging (the machine determines filter replacement based on airflow, not filter dirt) I can usually figure out each time, but the fact that it's usually a year or more out that I change the filters, I have to figure it out each time. So, make notes and attach to machine or wherever you need to assist you or be like me and push buttons for a while. The faster speeds are loud. apple watch from 3" (inch) measurement and 6' (foot) measurement. Also projected CFM and actual (they check performance of each filter and included a certification of actual results expecting a 10% +6 variation of CFM, so be aware your cfm will vary from mine. My older model was much closer to projections, but I don't remember the numbers now. Speed 1 - 40 dB 34dB 40 cfm, 41 cfm Speed 2 - 45 dB 36 dB 75 cfm, 86 cfm Speed 3 - 55 dB 40 db 140 cfm, 147 cfm Speed 4 - 61 dB, 44 dB 180 cfm, 203 cfm Speed 5 - 64 dB 50dB 200cfm, 252 cfm Speed 6 - 71 dB 56 db 330 cfm, 361 cfm The older machine has a slight whine to setting 1, so we only use setting two. This new one currently doesn't. My wife dislikes the noise while sleeping and any higher are too loud for her. My setting would be three or four but no higher. The point is that you are unlikely to want it louder than 2 if the room is occupied. The noise jumps from significantly from 2-3 and each one after. I run on high when we leave the room but 2 in it so we don't fight the noise when talking or tving. But when you need the power, it will clean the room quick. The remote is fine. Not great, not horrible, I don't really use so I can't provide insight beyond that. There were no bags or other things that I had to remove from the filter on unpacking, which is nice. plug and go. The wheels are definitely good to help with air circulation. I would not operate without that additional height, particularly if you have carpet. If you have cats or dogs, you will want to check the bottom of the machine every month or so for hair collection. You might find little hair squares that need to be pulled off and trashed so the air can flow better. I've had other air filters. They promise a lot, they promise square footage, they promise to be the best and blah blah blah. This system delivered. If you need air quality, this is your machine. When i did the research 10 years ago, there wasn't a competitor worth mentioning and this one had all kinds of recommendations. That may have changed as these machines have not changed, so definitely do your research, but I do know these machines work so, if you're okay with the costs, you'll be happy. (Barring a fluke build issue or something) The warranty is 1 year or 10 years if you register. You can register online. Reading the warranty, it's a limited warranty and requires you to send the unit back to be fixed and pay for that shipping. They pay for shipping back to you (per documentation with new unit). Except for the caster, my old one is still running strong. Definitely make sure it works and return to amazon in the first 30 days if it doesn't. Hopefully your unit life is as long as mine. As simple as these are, I'd be surprised if it wasn't. ... show more

  • Game changer for indoor air quality
Color: 2. HealthPro Plus XE Size: 1 Pack
There are two aspects to the "XE" purifier: 1) the actual mechanical unit and it's purifying abilities, and 2) the app control. 1) The air purifying capabilities of this is incredible. We've used cheap air purifiers before and never noticed much improvement. That all changed when we got the HealthPro XE. The quality of the air in the house changed dramatically. Crystal clear. Within hours the "old house smell" was completely eliminated. Pet orders gone. And using an air quality meter confirms that the particles in the air across multiple sizes are pretty much completely eliminated. I was surprised at how quiet it is for it's effectiveness. At first I was skeptical that it would do much given the low velocity of the air coming out of it, but I was wrong. Absolutely incredible, and I am absolutely looking for an excuse to buy another one. 2) The app control works fine, shows indoor vs outdoor air quality, let's you setup schedules or use the "balanced" mode which automatically detects air quality and adjusts fan speed accordingly. We found that balanced mode does not work for orders, though as these are no necessarily particles. With balanced mode, it will keep the fan fairly low and only occasionally increase the speed when we cook something, for example. But with the lower speed, odors are more noticable in the air, even though we've confirmed that the PM1, 2.5, and 10 are all at zero ppm. So, we tend to just keep it at a higher fan speed at all times to get the full effect of mountain fresh, crystal clear air. Ok, maybe I'm being a tad hyperbolic. The air coming from the purifier isn't quite the same as fresh mountain air. It does have a slight oder from the filters themselves. Hard to describe...kind of like a clinical smell you'd find in a hospital where these are used. But it's not offensive, and overall the air quality is noticably better / different than without using it. Only downside is that the app doesn't seem to connect to the device when not connected to the same WiFi network. E.g., I can't turn the purifier on/off when away from the house. It'd be great if we had remote control over the Internet instead of just the local network. I think every house and apartment should have one of these to improve air quality. Seriously, if you can afford it, don't look any further. You will not regret it. ... show more
