  • Purchased for paint mixing
I bought this to mix my Citadel paint pots, and it works VERY well. It comes with a bonus dropper bottle and a bunch of mixing balls that could be very helpful for reactivating old paints, and the mixer has the power to do that. Even my worst separated paints got a COMPLETE mix with less than 30 seconds on this mixer. Highly recommend this for miniature painters looking for a great, low cost vortex mixer ... show more

  • Glad I waited!
I had been watching several of these types of vortex paint mixers in the $25-$39 range. Most of the reviews were spotty, but THIS particular INTLLAB model seemed to get consistently good marks so I kept my eye on it, as you do. Amazon did NOT disappoint! The price dropped by about $10 and I jumped with both feet. VERY happy with this little unit so far. First, it does what I bought it for, mixing my various Vallejo model paints with ease. 2nd, it is NOT loud, as some other units are. Honestly, if the sound this thing makes irritates anyone THAT much, I’d say they were probably just very sensitive to noise. It’s nowhere near as loud as almost ANY kitchen blender or powered kitchen tool I’ve ever used. 3rd, it’s made very well, comes in a nice METAL housing, with rubber feet for gripping. I haven’t had any “traveling” issues as it seems to be heavy enough to prevent that from happening very easily. The rated “speed” of this unit is somewhat lower than some other mixers but you’d never know it as you’re using it. I have used it with both Vallejo Model Color and Game Color paints ( which are generally thicker than their Model AIR and Game AIR lines) and this mixer had ZERO issues mixing them perfectly. I use steel balls in my paints to facilitate quicker mixing but, even with those additions, it was troublesome trying to get any agitation going by simply hand-shaking the bottles. Gets tiring after awhile. But this INTLLAB mixer handles them easily. No more worn out arms and wrists. YAY!!! I’d say, even if you don’t catch this unit on sale, it’s worth paying a few extra bucks for the solid build quality, the lack of loud noise, and the money you WON’T be spending on Ben-Gay for your arms😂. ... show more

  • Died after 2 years of use, worked well durring that period.
Worked fantastically for 2 years until it died today. i opened it up and one of the wires carrying power to the motor broke. they used very thin gauge wires and the motion of the device broke it free. it's an easy fix if you know how to solder. i don't have any soldering equipment so i'm buying a replacement. it was $60 when i got it but for the current $40 price i'd say it's worth the money. ... show more

  • Mixes even my thickest, most stubborn inks!
The media could not be loaded. I'm a tattoo apprentice, and I've learned that some inks are much thicker than others, and can be impossible to mix back together just by manually shaking it. This ivory ink has a mossy green color that separates out, and I've been unable to mix it myself, no matter how long I shake it. While it's impossible to fully mix it back to its original state (that just happens with some inks that have sat for a while), this has done more than I ever could. 10/10 would recommend. And for only $20, this is a steal. Only complaint is that it came with a bunch of small metal ball bearings that were loose all over the inside of the box, with the empty plastic container just rattling around in there. I think these are included to add to bottles to make mixing easier, similar to glass marbles, but I'm not sure. Also came with a plastic twist nozzle bottle. ... show more

  • Great hobby paint mixer
A must have for every hobby miniature painter. Quickly mix paints with no hustle and most importantly no noise.

  • Save your money!
I purchased this in June of last year and it worked great. I didn’t really use it that much after I purchased it but the last few weeks I started using it more often. However since buying it I don’t think I have used it even 75 times, but recently it just quit working. I took it apart to see what the problem might be but no matter what it would not work. Save your money and look for a better one even if is cost more. ... show more

  • Underpowered mixer when it works, often stalls
The media could not be loaded. I got this mixer because it was less than half the price ($30 vs $70) of some of the others and seemed similar. I’m not happy with it and wouldn’t buy it again. The motor seems very underpowered. Most of the time when I use it, it stalls at first and won’t start shaking. After repeated tries it will usually start (occasionally I can’t get it to mix at all). When it’s works it seems to do an OK job, but not great. I use it to mix acrylic paints for miniatures. With some thicker paints like metallics and paint brands that have a thicker consistency, it takes a long time to get them to mix up, and I have to hand shake in between using the mixer several times to get them to mix up well. I added a couple of videos that hopefully give a good sense of how it works. You can see it stalling in the video a couple of times. It depends a lot on how you position the bottle and how you press it down. It’s working relatively well in this video - sometimes it stalls a lot more. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the more expensive unit. Having this is better than only hand shaking, but I would gladly pay double for a mixer that worked better and mixes my paints thoroughly and quickly. ... show more
