  • Don't use with a BestWay filter pump
Although this is a type B filter, I tried it with my BestWay filter pump (that takes Type B filters), and the pump flow decreased significantly after just a day, and I rinsed it out several times. It even got to the point where there was almost no flow at all. Did not have this problem with BestWay filters, even after several weeks of use. This may be fine for Intex filter pumps, but don't use it for Bestway filter pumps. ... show more

  • Very sturdy construction. Well built. Should last much longer than the generic ones.
All I can say is WOW. The Intex brand filter is WAY more sturdy than the generic filters I have been buying for 1/2 the price. This one has a much stronger PVC core that will keep it from collapsing. The generic ones have a plastic mesh inside that easily crushed. The pleats are securely molded to the blue rubberized end caps. Very well built. I am sure I will be able to wash and reuse this many times. The generics were magically throw away after one rinse. I will be buying another. ... show more

  • Perfect for Stock Tank Pool
This filter, although "disposable", can be cleaned and reused a few times which makes for a great added value. My stock tank pool is 700 gallons, and I treat it chemically like a "real" pool, as in chlorine tabs, shock and clarifier. I pull the filter weekly and rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose to clean it. I've gotten 3 weeks so far, and although some staining of the fiber portion of the filter is showing, it still functions well. I do notice a slight reduction in pressure at the return nozzle as the filter gets dirtier. One filter cartridge came with pump, I purchased one additional one at that time. I've just purchased an additional 6 pack locally and should be good for the summer with regular cleaning and exchanging. ... show more

  • Not worth the money
The filter blocks our water flow. As soon as I take filter out of pump water flows perfect. When I put filter back in I barely have water flow

  • Easy to clean, effective cartridge filter for above ground pools
I'm not a huge fan of the cartridge filter pumps because they need cleaned so frequently and replaced but, it's what came with the pool we bought and as of right now, we aren't looking to upgrade the pool filter just yet. We have a soft sided frame pool the takes this filter for the pathetically undersized filter pump. We replaced the original filter and developed an algae problem in our pool. (Note to self: make sure the filter doesn't accidentally get left off during a period of rain. It's not pretty.) We've had to pull and hose off this filter multiple times a day as we're trying to clear up the water but I will say that it hoses off extremely well and is filtering out the algae beautifully. I'm still not pleased with the cartridge filter set up as a whole but our replacement filter seems very easy to clean and is doing a great job filtering the pool water. One nice feature of these filters, especially when you have to hose algae slime off of them, is the fins on the filter have a small gap between them. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they clean out with just a hose with a spray nozzle on it. Of course, you are supposed to replace these weekly which hasn't exactly happened here but we've learned our lesson and perhaps someone down the road will learn from our mistake rather than fighting the great algae beast themselves. When the pool instructions tell you to rinse the filter daily and replace it weekly, they are serious. It's expensive but so is throwing a ton of shock into a pool that got out of whack overnight. Live and learn. Eventually we plan to upgrade our pool filter to a sand filter which I believe will do a much better job a keeping the water filtered and clean. In the meantime, I've never gone through so much shock and chlorine in my life! Apparently, algae eats shock like a great white after fresh meat. ... show more

  • Not right item.
Item was not as described. Arrived as small filters. When contacting seller they kept giving me the run around with trying to get my money back and returning item. I just wanted what I ordered.

  • I will never go back to throw away filters again! This filter is a lifesaver!
If you are still trying to clean and reuse throw away filters from Walmart etc and still go through them every week or even 2 weeks.. stop and add that up, yeah!!! it's expensive! Just regular prices alone ends up being about $10ish a pack, add in the pool supply shortage and you're now paying $18+ for a single filter. That's insanely expensive by the end of summer! We came across this filter and decided to give it a shot and WOW we are so glad we did! Not only are we saving so much money, now we don't have to buy another filter for a few more years AND this one is SO EASY TO CLEAN. I spent way less time cleaning this one compared to the old throw away ones. The only downside is it cool use some better suction power in my opinion. If they could fix that a bit better, this would be GOLD! ... show more

  • Less water flow
Editted after insertion: Smaller holes in the middle compared to previous filter cause less water to freely flow through. Not sure if this will be problematic in keeping the water clear or not. Arrived quickly, packaged well & in new condition. I gave 4 stars for value for money because typically they run less but I suppose with a shortage it runs prices up some... however, it is a 5 star product. ... show more
