Description

The strong and sturdy steel metal bot on J bolt gate hinge is designed for both bolt onto and weld on to the gate post installations. It’s designed for maximum durability and has a ball bearing design. The hinges have flat, bolt- on brackets for through bolting which make it easy to install and mount. You can also bolt it on to the post and bolt it on to the gate frame. The fasteners are not included. It’s powder coated very well for rust proof! The 180 degree rotation design make it can be used for push to open and pull to open gate installation! It's ideal for estate, commercial, industrial, ornamental iron and access controlled gates!

    • Good hinges for the price
Good quality hinges for the price. Pro tip: put a small amount of grease into the zerk fitting upon installation so the zerks don't seize up. Then when you actually need to grease them, they will accept grease well. For these hinges, plan for exactly 4" between the face of the hinge post and the nearest face of the gate frame. This leaves about 5/16" of threads and allows for adjustability. You could get away with 3.5" between each, perhaps less if you countersink/counterbore the gate frame, or switch to jam nuts instead of the provided nuts. I opted for 4" to allow for adjustability over time, and installed vertical wood pickets to close the hinge gap to the customer's desired gap. One last thing, be sure to check the hinges to ensure they are square. if not, just clamp them down and use a ~24" piece of pipe to bend them to 90 degrees. This is a common issue with affordable J hinges, luckily it is not a hard fix. ... show more

Overall impression: very solid, nice design. I love the support bracket. It has a ball bearing which offsets the J Bolt by 1/16” or so. That being said there’s no exit for the water which could be problematic. Grease nipple - excellent. Bracket: 7” by 1.5”, ⅜” thick. With the cylinder 2 ⅜” Mounting holes are 7/16”. Solid but welds look rough. Poorly spray painted. J Bolts: 5.5” thread, 7.5” long overall. ¾” thick. Solid, rough spray paint job. Nuts are smooth - threading is good. Requires a 1 ⅛” wrench. 4.5 Stars – very industrial and good value if you need a Ball Bearing solution. How I review: Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points. - 0 for value but I try to provide guidance -0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel -0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on execution I select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. When the listing stated industrial, they meant it. I was expecting such good quality, but these really exceeded my initial expectations. I think they are going to stand up to the abuse that my Great Dane and kids will throw at gate and fence I’m about to put up. Great price point too. (About $50 for a set of 2). These gate hinges are very heavy duty with grease zerks to keep them moving with ease. The hinge body is welded to the mounting plate for maximum weight rating.
