  • Pricey back-up reverse switch but it works
This little switch kit was just what I needed to hook up reverse back-up lights for my 57 Chevy with Muncie 4-speed. Quite pricey for a simple switch and a flimsy bracket shaped to fit on the backside of a Hurst shifter attached by the stop bolt. Routing the wires inside the cabin and through the shifter hole was the most difficult part of the project. Other than than, it was a fairly easy install, just under 1 hour, and, after bending the bracket just enough to make contact with the reverse arm, worked perfectly. The ease of bending to adjust switch action to the reverse arm could explain why the metal was so flimsy. Time will tell if it holds up. I don't drive in the rain but switch could be impacted by too much moisture. Not giving product 5 stars but 4 mostly due to cost compared to buying the switch separately and fabricating one's own bracket for half the cost. But I spent the $$$ to save that lost time and aggravation. ... show more

  • Bracket not built correctly
The bracket should have been made striaght rather than have a kink in it. I have a new Hurst Competition Plus linkage and I had to severelt bend the braket to make it work properly. WHen I conferred with their Tech Department, they said "you might have to tweak it a bit dependingf on installation".

  • Worked exactly as advertised
Add backup lights to my 1965 Mustang as the were optional in 1965. I also had a Hurst super shifter so I added this switch and bracket and the necessary wiring. The install is simple but the adjust is a little sloppy. The bracket doesn't "index". You simply mount it as the instructions suggest, then you have to move it side to side until the switch aligns with the reverse lever, hold it in position, then tighten the stop bolt lock nut making sure the lever doesn't move. Not exactly precision but it gets the job done. As others have noted, the bracket does flex a bit but I see that as a plus. If the adjustment is off a little, rather than have the reverse lever hit the switch and damage it due to a stiff bracket, the bracket can flex slightly and protect the switch. Probably not designed that way but it works. ... show more

  • Great Item at a Fraction of the Cost of OEM
I have a 4 speed Muncie M-21 that needed a backup/reverse light switch. The stock OEM switch and mounting kit is well over $100 - which is fine if one wants to maintain an original appearance. For this car however (1972 BB Camaro), I just needed functionality. I have a Hurst Competition Plus 4 Speed shifter, and this switch fit perfectly. The installation was simple - the rear shifter stop bolt serves as the mounting bolt, I hooked-up the two wires (mine are green and pink) to the terminals, and now I have a functioning reverse light switch at a fraction of the cost of using the OEM part. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Already rusted front and back in package. BEWARE
Was already rusting in the wrapped package like its been sitting on a shelf since 1969. Would be nice and honest if that was said in advance since its decently priced. Super disappointing when your excited about new shiny stuff and it's got rusty spores smearing inside unwrapped.

  • Perfect fit and solid quality
I know it should be a perfect fit for all hurst shifters, but i guess i was a little iffy that it would be, but install was painless in my early bronco and compared to the stock switch that i broke while installing the hurst floor shifter, I decided to purchased this switch to replace it with, it was like night and day in quality, its solid and heavy duty, I don't see this thing ever braking on me, even with some off roading :) I highly recommend this switch for anybody needing one, you can't go wrong... ... show more
